I found if I used stacks of $100s from my cash advance it seems to work better than a ruler.

Notice this: MOST posters who complain about why others complaining about e-logs coming are ...
1. Company drivers/And or trained with a mega carrier
2. Spend weeks/months at a time on the road.
3. Run for 30-40cpm and think your really making $ ..
I for one am a business man and do not need my hand held or, need to be told where to go and what route to take to get there.
Or be told I can't go home.
I certainly understand both sides of the argument but, I shouldn't be forced to have this equipment on MY truck ...Jokingypsy, Joetro, Derailed and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sounds like more like the typical anti government stuff again. This is an industry that, for years forced drivers to constantly run illegal, some companies even making drivers run 24/7 by running multiple paper logs and popping amphetamines, and basically having to kill themselves just to make any decent money. At least with the e logs, there is verifiable prove of what the driving has been doing (so long as it's operating correctly), which if there is an accident where the four wheeler causes it, it's better proof of the driver running legal or not. I have been on e logs for the past 4 years and I will not go back, and that's with a small company that respects it's drivers, and while that .40 a mile may not seem much to you, maybe there should be an effort to get driver wages up, and re-regulation of freight rates so the smaller outfits and independents don't keep getting hosed by the mega-carriers. The "no regulations what so ever" approach won't work because this is an industry that can't be trusted to police itself.

For owner operators it is a huge expense jump for that category. Not a huge expense over all but look at the numbers.....
12 Paper logs per year at a high cost of $1.75 each is a whopping $21 for the entire year.
Now comes e-logs
$1800 to install per truck
$20 per month (lowest I have seen) This comes to $240 per year
Now what happens when one of these things breaks? You still have to have logs.
How about when every 2-5 years the truck is traded in for a new one? Who pays to have the recorder added to the new truck?
There are a lot more expenses than the monthly fee.Jokingypsy and Joetro Thank this. -
I am against e logs. I see both sides. My boss has 9 end dumps pays me very well. 14.60 n hour plus when i run load out of state i get i high % pay n then go back hourly when im local. Its all about employers respecting the employees. I get paid good because he counts on me to get job done and know i will do it the best i can as fast as i can. I dont need a babysitter and i think most agree if elog tells you your out of hours an hour from home 9 times outa 10 im making it home no matter what. I value my family time. And maybe its the bull haulers or end dump etc that dont want it. And i dont see how they can do that to bullrack considering when your loaded you only have so many hours to get livestock there. Im not a refer hauler or flatbed or van but there is certain things you haul that has to be there by a certain time or you get docked in pay or etc just my 2 cents

Oh come on now you expect them to have a smartphone now? The government can track them that way! Spy on them while they are driving using the camera on the phone and relay it to the dot officer hidden in the bushes and nab them!
Dinomite and Chucktaylor Thank this. -
I'll haul your freight and deliver it on time. Even though I'm on elogs. I promise not to stop at every truckstop along the way. I may not goof off, somehow I have a good work ethic -
