Well, sure, but .... but what if someone hijacks your truck, uses a rag with ether to take the fight out of you, and takes command of the vehicle and releases the trailer as you're both going down the Santa Monica Freeway at high speed? Then you'll be sorry for ever wanting that in-cab release.

I like having this feature in ny truck. Never get grease on my clothes.

I only have the switch to release the 5th wheel pins, to let me slide the 5th wheel back or forward to adjust my weight.
I've ever only used it twice with this truck.
With the Volvo it is simple. Set the switch and it is good to go. With the ProStar, however, I had to keep it pressed in manually to keep it engaged.
A switch to let me release the jaws would be nice, though.
It would save me the time and effort of backing in to the trailer, re-setting the brakes, and getting out again to pull it.
Granted, it takes only an extra minute. But I'm lazy and don't want the extra work.TruckDuo Thanks this. -
And really. Someone is going to hijack your truck, knock you out, and then send the trailer (with perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars of stuff) into limbo?
???
That makes a lot of sense if the person wants to joy ride in a bobtail for a few hours, I guess.
I doubt it has ever happened since trucks were invented.
But, I guess it could.
So I guess that is reason enough not to have in-cab 5th wheel releases.
This poster sounds too much like someone that said, 'we need to pass this bill, so that we can see what's in it'. -

According to Hollywood, you can release the jaws on the fifth wheel when the power unit is half hanging off a cliff, and the only thing keeping it from going over is the trailer its attached to.
Quick... name the movie!
