I am looking for a set of DVD's for diesel repair and maintenance. I am a mechanically inclined person with many years of experience working on gas engine. I'm looking for something that will give me the basics to diesel repair and maintenance, because I am considering going to diesel mechanic school. I want to use the DVD's to build knowledge before I jump into it completely blind.

Can anyone make any recommendations for DVD's?

If you're already mechanically inclined, why not look at going straight into the programs offered by Cummins or Detroit Diesel if you want to specialize exclusively in engines?

Because I'm getting ready to go to work for a trucking company and I want to get my OTR experience first before I even attempt to go to a school. Besides I want to see what the main differences are between gas and diesel engines and if that's something that I would enjoy getting into in the first place. I'd rather spend a couple to a few hundred dollars vs. a few thousand for a school that I may not enjoy.

Learning to drive OTR isnt cheap either. Some of these mega carriers will require one year employment, failing to meet that criteria they will slap you with a multithousand dollar fee. There is no mechanical training when you go OTR. Theey only want you to drive and keep good paperwork.

I ordered from eBay a cd- manual for Detroit engine. Pretty much provide minimum help if any.

You'll learn more from reading shop manuals than anything else. Truck repair vids are nowhere near the quantity or quality of regular automotive ones. Still, it doesn't hurt to youtube a few.

I could set up my dashcam outside my garage but most of the video would be me drinking beer.
