One of the items on my orientation check list require 5yrs of past work history..but I only have four. I didn't work in 2009. Will that get me sent home?

Enter it as unemployed unless you were under 18

Gonna post this because this may be helpful to other wannabees. If Prime accepts me, maybe I'll start a new thread, I like to write and maybe I can be helpful. Anyway, less than two hours of putting in my application, I got an email from a Prime recruiter asking me to call her at my convenience. I called right after I got the email, entered the extension and she picked up the phone (something I did not expect, maybe because it was Saturday?). I was very impressed with her. This is what I would call a screening conversation. Everyone has said everything in the first week, including the pre-acceptance phase, is a job interview. This certainly was, yet it was very laid back and the recruiter was very good, friendly and professional. Obviously she loves her job, I could tell.

She asked me a couple of questions about my National Guard obligations, mainly if I can get out of drills during training. No issues with that for me. She went through all the basic stuff, explaining what the training program was like, how long I would be away from home, training and solo driving pay, etc. Asked if I was OK with that. I already knew this stuff from these forums, but she didn't tell me anything you guys have not already said. Everything was up-front and no lies. I told her being away from home 3-4 weeks was no problem after being deployed for 2 1/2 years since 2004.

Now, why I think this was also a test, not sure, maybe I overanalyze things. She said she has just pulled up my MVR and said she noticed one speeding ticket in 2007. I said my 10 year MVR should have two speeding tickets. I had put both on my application. I mentioned the other ticket and she said there was just one. No biggie either way, but I was doing the full disclosure thing as you guys have suggested. Not sure if it was a test or not.

She is back in tomorrow and told me to call her back then. Like I said, I am impressed so far, this is my first actual contact with the company outside of drivers. Good recruiter, no BS, up-front about demands of the training program and the actual job. So far, this is the company I want to work for. Stay tuned.

Full disclosure is the only way to go. They *will* find out everything, and if it's a disqualifying issue, it's better to find out right away, rather than after riding the bus and having to pay for your trip home.

    scdude Thanks this.

scdude, talked to Prime today. Since, I'm self employed and cant verify three years employment, it was a no go. You're on your own buddy :p Worst case scenario I guess I could amend my taxes and claim the pittance I collected but [edit: Swift] is going to tell me tomorrow if I'm good to go.

Verify 3 years of employment using your self employed tax returns. This should be acceptable. Not sure though.....

Worked for me also, I just provided my tax returns and then some back up info, like clients names I had worked for etc.

They always have. Just because you are invited to orientation doesn't mean you're "in." You have to earn your CDL here... it's not automatic.
