the question you are asking is like whats better a chevy or a ford. you have to make that decision yourself and move ahead with your choice. cant help you on the flatbed part pulled meat and produce the first 15 years and box trl the rest of the time. lots of luck

Yep. I have read that CT does a lot of short runs hauling construction materials. Maybe I'm wrong, but don't see how anyone could make big paychecks doing that.

Are you ####### serious? Did someone else make up your mind for you to get into this industry, as well?
Not trying to bust your balls here.. well, yeah, I kinda am... but you gotta be able to make your own decisions here. You're an adult, are you not? If you want to compare and contrast van vs. flatbed, that's one thing, but to have to ask someone which one YOU want to do? Come on!

Dude, try DECAF....The question was pretty simple. Not which one I should take per si but more a question of the better company to pull for. I like the ideal of flatbed due to the physical labor involved. I like to stay in shape. Yes, round is a shape as well but I'm not into that "mushy" feeling, perhaps you couldn't understand that.

WKSH is also a company with the reputation of unloading and working the ole pallet jack, forcing the driver to put down the honey bun and work the ole cardio's some. CT has a new pay program which guarantees all runs (1800-2300 miles a week) .36/mile + trap/stop pay for new drivers for 90 days. Their theory, is that a new driver can't run as many miles due to the inexperience of trapping so therefore it will take them longer and equates to being able to run less miles. That seems to be pretty cool for a company that appears to care for it's drivers. Thou the miles doesnt seem to be as good as what WKSH has, the pay is a little higher per mile....Both companies seem to have a little negative response so I am just throwing the question out to some of you experience gurus that have been around.... I do like the idea of % pay vs mile pay since they only run a short perimeter of 12 hour diameter from your home terminal but as China said they are mostly short runs.

Thanks for all the intelligent and, those that input helpful answers.....

Most fighters walk into a boxing gym not for the money, but because THEY LIKE TO FIGHT. Your question is like asking, "Should I try out for the basketball team or be a fighter? What are the pros and cons?" Thing to remember, if you even want to consider fighting, it's not for the initial money, it's for the fight.

Same principle goes for flatbedding. People that do well in flatbedding got into flatbeds because they wanted the challenge. They wanted to get down and dirty throwing chains and whatnot. In basketball, every time you get knocked down, the ref calls foul on your opponent. In boxing, every time you get knocked down, the ref wants to count you out.

So, when someone comes in and asks, "Should I go flatbed or van?", safe bet is he will be happier with vans.
