Not really sure it applies. You have to report whether on paper or the upcoming Elogs. Go ahead and take the 5th at the next inspection and let us know how well it works. This amendment applies to criminal activity, not to regulatory compliance. Go ask an attorney.

you guys are going to cause a shortage of tin foil hats.
what do you guys do to trigger the dot raking you over the coals? in 34 years now I have never been questioned about missing pages in a logbook, never questioned about my copies of my logs, nor harassed.
in fact last Friday evening on I-440 I had 2 Arkansas state troopers and a Arkansas dot helping with a problem on my load in the rain no less, they at one point were pulling bungee cords. nice guys actually, it was like 3 old boys in a pickup stopped to help
a lot depends on your attitude , demeanor , believe it or notRedForeman, Cowpie1, indspirit and 1 other person Thank this. -
LOL! Caused me to think about, in the movie "Signs", where they were siting on the couch all wearing tin foil hats so the aliens couldn't read their thoughts!

If enforcement has targeted you or your carrier, good behavior might not get as much mileage. Probably wont help all that much but it's better to always be easy to get along with.
I have heard of instances now where paper logbooks are being targeted, and I know of a few in IA at least that will hop up and have a peek at e-logs, or request to. Just having them doesn't make you have to run legal in the eyes of some.
On another note, I saw a truck somewhere during the week with a "Truck Equipped With Electronic Logging by Rand McNally" sticker. I have seen some with
the Big Road signage on them, too. -

I do paper logs, well sort of. I use eclipse logs on my laptop and print them off each day, been checked several times with no problems. mine are always up to date, they can target away.
and youre right some people just draw more flies than others for whatever reason.RedForeman Thanks this. -
I can't tell you how many times my logs may not be to the letter of the law but they were truthful. They would ask why it is like this and I would explain what went on that day and why I logged it as so. I may have been wrong in the way I logged it but the officer at the coop or on the side of the road used reason and could understand why it was the way it was. They would tell me how to do it right and I was on my way. Logic and reason used to be the norm now the world doesn't want to think for itself. Let the robots run things for us. No thanks I still got a functional brain.stayinback, EZX1100 and Ukumfe Thank this. -
