At this point I would be giving it away, anyone who doesnt like it on the other end can get a hold of your ever so concerned dispatcher, and for the shipper tell them you tried to get a hold of them through smoke signals since they dont have a phone. I mean really, no one should be held hostage on account of a simple mistake regardless of the circumstances.

    i got lost in this

but to be held captive by either DOT or your dispatcher is wrong.

if he is a company driver, he screwed up, they absorb the costs of screwups, which is why they pay their drivers so little

if he owns the truck, he has to take the hit and do what he needs to do without jeopardizing being arrested

but i will say this, typically, when dispatchers treat you like this, its usually because you let them know you are a pushover, and they become napoleon, or you have screwed up so many times, they look at you as a moron and give you no respect

but the company should have done what it needed to do, by the end of his 10hr break to get him and that load rolling again

Well I am trying to empathize with the O.P. and as we are all different if it were me,I would have made at least 2-3 (not so friendly) calls to dispatch by now setting a time frame-and also explaining to the D.O.T. what's goin on and asking them what my options are. Really though..I would be PISSED. Easy to sit here mellow and try to ##### the situation.. Bet you're gonna scale loads here on out huh O.P.? Not makin fun..I too have done the mistake you have..

MO. will let you be 1 ton over axel only on state rt. if not over gross, an try to get some of the lumber off to get the truck over to another truck to get close to 80,000 will likely get you moving.

A few years ago I got to know one dot cop at the Cabool coops pretty well. He wrote me 3 overweight's in one month. I was escorted from the scales to get legal
since my loads walked on & walked off. He took me to the mtn. grove stockyards, told me I had to get legal & then he left. After he left I headed west.

I agree.perhaps i did not convey it well enough in my earlier post.i also agree that something doesn't sound right.

I don't care if the load is impounded, one of those DOT will relent and show,if nothing else,a bit of compassion.OP must be ripe by now and needing a shower.now is the time to let the scale house smell you and do everything short of beg.heck,i may even beg by now if the truck stop is no more than 5-10 miles away.

I have had DOT do that for me.sort of.they turned their back after telling me what i needed to do to get legal and/or told me that they would check on me right BEFORE they left duty to make sure i had not left.GET IT? right BEFORE they left duty.when they drove by and waved,i took it to mean that i too should leave.i waited about 10 minutes and eased on.

op needs to try something more than he has.
