Forced to go off-duty

    No we dont get overtime pay, and i`m crying about being expected to stay awake for 20+ hours driving overnight pulling two trailers while fatigued, dont think i`m being unreasonable ?

    No you're not being unreasonable. You need to flat out tell them you refuse to be ran to death. If they retaliate and fire you then claim unemployment for wrongful termination as you have the law on your side here.

    i think you just stretching the truth a little bit,20 hrs a day thats hard to beleive,i dont think any employer will accept the liability of putting a driver on the road knowing he only slept 4 hrs a day.

    Which is exactly why I'm asking the question, if we get a 6 hour delay before leaving waiting for paperwork/ mechanical repairs then we are still expecting to complete our drive and carry out other duties upon arrival - why would I make this up ?

    plenty of lousy companies in Chicago pay on 1099 and expect the work done dont care how you do it
    one of the russian elk grove types had a night class in advanced logging

    to the OP if you are in a position to move on to another company do so as quick as possible
    14 hour days are long enough
    but you wont change the company your with

    Is there anything stopping you from actually napping while getting repairs? The only thing I can see wrong is if your company wants you to take an 8 hour sleeper break if your not actually sleeping. That would be technically a violation.

    I see your point but a delay at the start of your shift when your body is prepared for being awake all night makes it very difficult to sleep at that time, realise this may not be the case for everyone though
