Nobody but most guys hang around 57-60 and are just fine. but if you get up to around 62-65 that's an easy ticket but you will never see a FedEx truck pulled over in Cali

My heart and prayers go out to everyone affected... but most every Fedex truck pulling doubles that I've experienced on the interstate has been bordering on the "reckless" side. I cringe every time one of them passes me or rides alongside me. Certainly not saying every Fedex driver out there drives in this manner... but it's almost like the company encourages that type of behavior. It's just way too common to be isolated instances.

I watched a documentary on a cable show on msnbc where they were comparing ups to FedEx and the way they compete...the executive VP of FedEx stated this.."customer don't want to hear nor do they care if it's a blizzard, pouring down rain or road closure due to accidents or weather, they want their pkg when we said they would get it"...that statement clearly shows how ignorant FedEx mgt is...there no pkg or freight so important that you have to risk the general publics life for...

Bingo......they do just like most every other public carrier. Pay your driver treadmill style....the more he does then the more he gets.....and this cold be the result......

Just had a safety mtg. one of our guys flipped a load of crude ( driver ok ) and destroyed a unit and spilled the load.....big money.....big dogs teaked off, sent puppet to terminal to beach at us about it.....ok fine.

So I asked puppet "why" and he said speeding....and I asked him "why" and he said he didn't know. So I told him "you need to know everything about the accident before you lay blame anywhere"........( his face got red) ( I had to tell the boy what a yaw mark was )

They pay us to load heavy and run fast.....all of my vacation days, holidays etc . are averaged to give them a daily rate factor for next qtr. The more I haul then the more I get and the bigger my daily rate will be for vacation........you bet I have the burner lit every minute I can. No brainer that the wagon is up to max payload.

NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE WITH FEDEX but this is a factor in many accidents.

its not about safety, never has been

its not about fairness or justice

its solely about profit and market share

and they dont rise to the top because they are safe, as he said, customers dont care, share holders dont care

    he isnt the ignorant one

True, but you have to admit they have spoiled society in general. Only 30 years ago, we were happy if we ordered an item from sears over the phone and received it 5 days later. Today, we want it NOW and will pitch a fit if we can't get it in 2 days with "free shipping". Plenty of blame to go around but we have become an "instant gratification society" and this had led us to where we are today.

But it is interesting how during bad winter conditions you will see 10 Fedex trucks (mostly ground) in the ditch for every 1 UPS truck in the ditch. There must be some factor at play here. Perhaps UPS contracts more freight to outside truckload carriers?

Before it's over, the Fedex money is liable to make the reporting and investigation lead in a direction to where it seems as though maybe the bus driver's actions were a "contributing factor". You watch and see if I'm not right. Fedex has huge connections in all the right places and keep those connections very "happy".

Some people like me growing up in a single parent and low income home. There were programs for us to go to college campuses for tours and to complete college applications. Excellent programs

The news is now saying the FedEx truck was already on fire before it hit the bus. The couple in the car it sideswiped said there were flames coming from the rear of the tractor before it hit them. Maybe a dragging brake or somesuch. The driver could have been distracted trying to figure where the smoke was coming from.
Sad for sure, but thing's happen.
