I again would like to thank you all for all of the advice!
In an ideal world I would prefer to end up with a job where I could be home every night or only be out for a few days at a time because I have a wife and 6 year old twins at home.
I am not against having to hustle and work hard doing some unloading or whatever as long as I am not getting taken advantage of.
I like the idea of getting the endorsements now instead of later.
So am I crazy to think I will get a local job right out of school?
As far as a school is concerned I am going to go to Jersey Tractor Trailer Training for my training. They seem to be one of the better schools in this area.

    Thanks again!

A few new drivers posted they got local jobs right out of CDL school driving fuel or chemical tankers and home every day. Those jobs are few and far between for new drivers, but they can be found if you knock on some doors. A friend of mine hauls fuel to Shell stations; home every day, works 6 days a week and makes close to $60K. One job you probably have to research to find in your area is hauling diesel fuel to the rail yards to fuel train engines. Get all the endorsments so to be prepared for any opportunity.

Well that is good news to hear! While I don't like the idea of blowing up in a burning inferno I am open to driving a tanker. lol

How much is TMC paying these days?
Superior is .47cpm loaded and .40cpm empty and a whole lot of other pay that goes along with it.

Looks like they are at .41cpm but that's after 4 years.

I wondered where Richter came up with TMC pays more. Not to get in a peeing contest with him but I don't think they pay more than Superior.

For what it's worth, you will be making .47/.40 at Superior starting. Not after 4 years.

The peeing contest brings up a great point. Pay in this industry is all over the board. The reason is New hires have no idea what to ask for as far as wages. You want all the endorsement to make yourself more employable but the truth is if you have a license you are employable. The industry is needing drivers.

The large companies depend on newbies. The have to because as a company grows, they become top heavy. The only people in a trucking company that bring in revenue are the DRIVERS. Everyone else is a cost. Look around at your yard and see all the folks who answer the phone, file tax forms, sweep the place up, sit in an office, do safety things, train folks, recruit, sales staff, mechanics, lawn care folks. All of those folks are being paid out of revenue earned by the drivers. The large mega companies must have cheap drivers. So they need a way to get folks into the industry and then get rid of them before they figure out how much money you should be making. They do that by making you think they are doing you a favor by providing you training. Gee, the government gives them a tax break for that. Which comes out of your taxes......big favor. They pay you a ridiculous small salary based on miles you drive. Miles is not want the business is about revenue is. You should be paid a percentage of the load. Miles they even cheat on. Miles from city to city, not odometer miles. Then you scratch up a trailer and they not only fire you they put something on your DAC report which will keep you from being hired by someone else. That way, another newbie has to come through the process. That keeps wages low so they can build more fancy vacation homes for the folks who think that the driver is such a lowly person that they should use the back entrance to the building.

And is it only me or does someone else think that pulling triples means two other drivers are out of work?
