I couldn't go today:biggrin_25510: Had to drive straight truck for a driver that was out, didn't get back till late and you have to be at DMV and hour before they close. But I did find out that I only have to take combination test since I already have a class B with air brakes, passenger and School bus endorsements..the latter 2 I'm going to drop as I hope to never drive school bus again, and why pay for endorsements you aren't going to use??

Anyways I was pretty excited to find out I only have to take combination test. And they also told me to NOT get Enhanced license till after I get my CDL A test passed or full CDL A, as you have to pay for it when we transfer to Wisconsin which we will have to when we pass cdl school, then you have to pay for it again to transfer it back to your home state! AAAACK! So I am going to wait on that as well as the hazmat, doubles and triples and tanker endorsements as I won't be needing those in class anyways. Gonna save me some $$$ and that is key.
Have you taken your cdl permit test yet? How'd you do???
As long as I don't get back late tomorrow I am going in, otherwise it will be Wednesday as they are open till 7.
Took the practice test on Trucking truth and 100% was the score! So gonna read/study more tonight and hoping I get back in time tomorrow to take it.

I took the general and air brake so far. Not able to get done with work in time to do them all, so I'm just whittling them down one at time. Yeah saving money is the key, sort of glad I only live an hour away from "The Mother Ship" so they say don't have to worry about all that transferring. On a side note...we got a nice little covering of snow up here today hopefully we will have some good weather when all you May 5'ers get here!

Well aren't you the lucky one. You are starting class May 5th too correct? If I didn't have to do all the transferring back and forth I would test for all of them, but I can do it later.
When I got up this morning and left at 430 for work it was 49 out... by lunch time is had dropped to 31 degrees and has been lightly snowing this afternoon...yesterday was 69, Mother nature is a tease for sure!
    :biggrin_25512:
Are you going to get the enhanced license as well??

Dragonfly, are you sure you have to pay for those endorsements again? Honestly I'd just hang on to them as you never know if you'll need it. I'm a WI resident and I have a Class A with hazmat and tanker and I've never dropped the hazmat. I don't currently drive and haven't for years and never a T/T. I got my CDL from a farm co-op long ago. I pay the hazmat and fingerprint out of my own pocket just to keep it as I'd rather have it in case a job comes up that needs me to have it. My thought is it's easier to hang on to it than it is to get it back after it's dropped. The other thing is with the passenger and school bus both of those you must drive for the DMV to get the endorsement back.
It's your decision but my luck someone would ask if I could drive a bus for a group the minute I dropped the endorsement. I can understand the kids thing:biggrin_25510: but maybe it'd be a group you'd want to take like a busload of hot lonely bachelorettes.:yes2557:

Im assuming you would want me to drive the hot bachlorettes straight to you...LOL Point taken, maybe I won't drop them...we shall see when the time comes. They said I have 2 years to put them back on if I want too.

I don't mean to come into this thread sounding like an idiot, but will Roehl hire anyone at 21 years of age? Sounds like a really good company to start with. Any info is much appreciated!

Yes 21 is fine, I started out with Roehl right out of school, and I really can't find much of anything bad to say. My FM is very good to me I'm running 3000 average with maybe a slow week 2600-2800 but for the most part I've been running good, they have nice trucks with a lot of crappy trailers I wish they had something more than all the midroofs. It just feels too small when I'm living in it for a month at a time. I've asked several times for a KW or a sleeper truck but since there hasn't been anything wrong with mine I'm stuck with it lol. You'll be running mostly northeast I should say 99% northeast with a trip every now and then to Texas or the Carolina's. Roehl is a GREAT STARTER company, hands down better than swift/Werner/ type of company. Put your time in and move on, or stay. It's whatever works for you. One more thing. They have gotten me home EVERYTIME I've asked, I'm treated with respect and like a person from my FM. He"ll call just to talk to me, also don't be late on any load and they'll keep you running. 8 times out of 10 I have my next trip the day before my delivery. I'd say my One and only "down side" with Roehl but I believe this is all starter company's. My pay checks are less than what I was planning but like I said, put your time in and there's a lot of company's out there that will work perfect for you. But Roehl is the way to go just starting out
