No idling enforceable by fines?

Seems like no state is concerned about having a refer run all night but the driver well who cares if he gets cold or hot.

 

Does anybody know... did they have APUs in the fox holes... do the tents our service men and women live in have APUs.. I hope so.. it would suck to be laying on your cot without it.. as if the bombing isnt hard enough to sleep through... it is just so inhumane to not have AC..

 

No one is required to join the military, just like no one is required to work for a company that doesn't provide APUs. So spare me the guilt trip.

 

You'll be doing a whole lot of sitting then not to mention service failures on your DAC.Almost every state has the no idleing policy and so does the customers but I have yet to see it really enforced.I've idled many times in those states.But none the less carriers have a no idle policy as well.So to get away from the whole idle thing,find a company that has APUS.

 

If you have a carb sticker, you can idle in California, Pennsylvania. and New Jersey.

 

No guilt trip.. I just think there are too many whiny truck drivers... Seriously you think sleepin in 85 degrees is hard.. try doing contruction and working outside when it is 85 or higher.. try tarping a load in 85 degrees... c'mon are you a truck driver or a princesses...

Buy fans, keep yourself hydrated... with water not pepsi, coke or coffee.. but good old water.. it helps your body regulate in warmer temps..

 

85 is nice sleeping weather but not in Texas and not if you have an animal which I think drivers are then exempt from it.

 

The only place I've witnessed idling tickets being issued was in Connecticut. I was next I think but I rolled out while the super trooper was writing up a driver.

 

Yes. Actually ALL of our ancestors must have lived in inhumane conditions and not survived because of it. Therefore we don't exist....

I'm all for comfort, but it boggles my mind that our "Home of the Brave" folks have become so soft headed that we can't stand living or working outside a tiny range of temperature. If there is a power outage then suddenly it is an EMERGENCY!!!!

Get a grip. Folks all around the world live in extreme conditions without A/C and think nothing of it. Pulling out the "But I'm American and I'm not going to live that way!" card will only further reinforce the notion that we are a soft and less than brave folk.

Now I'm all for comfort in order to get good sleep. Point is comfort is a relative term. I've paid hundreds of dollars to spend time at a day spa sleeping in hot rooms. Should I have demanded A/C in the sauna? How about A/C in the 110ºF room with the salt rock walls? Nope, paid for the privilege of the heat and enjoyed it.

Has anyone that complains about not having A/C in the truck actually gone backpacking, camping, or otherwise recreated or worked in the great outdoors? Or all these folks experiencing the real world watching TV and playing video games indoors?
