I run out of North Charleston SC and go to Pasadena TX about 6 times a year. Often they will dispatch me to Sulphur LA for a preload. Our terminal has an openning for an experienced driver. We have a couple of older drivers retiring this year.

I thought it might be. Didn't think to hollar on the CB until I was out of range. Loading in Plaquemine now with a 6 AM delivery at Brown Summit Wednesday. We may cross paths again.

So, I was off for the past 3 days because i needed to get some stuff done around the house. Called dispatch this morning to check in and to see if they had a load for me tomorrow. Dispatch informed me they had to let another driver use my truck and they did not know when it would be back. I'm pretty pissed off right now. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I understand its their truck, and they can do what they want with it, but I think its pretty crappy that another driver is using my truck because his is broke and now I have nothing to drive.

It happens. From my experience, if someone uses your truck, they do their best to have them back before you have to go out.

I have had that happen before but it was on a dedicated load and they knew when it would be back. I wasn't happy not being able to work for another day or 2 at the time. They gave me a long load to make up for it.

I have had to use other guys trucks when mine was getting fixed a few times. It tends to even out. I was thankful for the opportunity to make some money that week. No layover pay at the home terminal.

They don't send you back out until your truck gets back. I always made the best of it and enjoyed a little more home time.
