Exactly ! Write on young man , write on.........

Do you folks know they don't teach cursive in school anymore? This guy may be the last of the letter writers coming up........I was taught cursive in second grade and had to use it full time by 4th. Had to write and compose letters in the 5th. All book reports etc. were all cursive from then on or rejected. That's all gone now.

I have no idea how young people are going to sign a contract in the future....they can't sign their name !! How will they sign the card attached to the roses? And the internet don't work in the battlefield...... how will they write home???

You write that gal young man! I promise she will cherish every word. Get a roll of stamps and hit the drop boxes at the t-stops.

    Interesting.

I have no children, so I do not know about what they teach. I think I will check with some friends on this.

Does not bode well for the future.

Of course we keep in contact throught out the day and face time at night. I was just thinking why not write some letters to keep the bond strong. A hand written letter to me or postage card with some writing is worth more to me in my eyes then a text message.

Yeah RM, I'm afraid that it is true. They haven't taught cursive in years around here. I had to learn cursive in early elementary school, and I used it all through school. Then when I became a cop, I had to learn to block print very neatly for reports. What a pain that was.

    Thank God for computers though!

One of the firemen is a teacher at the high school. I think I will be asking some questions.

I really never thought about it much.

I learned this stuff in the 60's.

This is a great idea, especially for a young person. Letter writing is a lost art and, having grown up with nothing but letters, I hate email and all the other instant gratification means of faux communication. Email and social media has its uses, of course, but not to persue romantic relationships and true friendship. When I was deployed, I wrote letters. And I remember having pen pals many years ago. I can tell you letters are appreciated over email. Electronic commo is quick and non-permanent. It can be done with no thought. Writing a letter takes skill and actual thought. Your wife and kids will love it. If you have kids that are old enough, write letters just to them. Kids still love to get mail and get none these days. I mean snail mail.

I always thought cursive was dumb. I cant think of a truck stop that wont have mail services or at least a drop box. Just stock up on stationery at walmart and get some stamps.
