At 11pm last nite i'm rolling s/b on Hwy 395 south of Big Pine, CA. Now i'm doing about 60mph. It's posted 55, except in the towns. I know, i'm speeding. I see a rig quickly catching up to me. He passes. It's a Fed Ex Ground day cab pulling doubles. It's dead quiet out, so i wait til he's about a mile ahead of me and see if i can catch up.

Anyone used to this road knows it's mostly downgrades going south. I ran all the way to Ridgecrest at 65-75 trying to gain on him. No chance! He was flooring it the whole way. When he got to the 14 split he was about 3 minutes ahead of me. By the time i passed Ridgecrest he was gone.

He wasn't driving recklessly, just fast. Their drivers must be under constant pressure to deliver on time. Although they're in the same business, i've never seen a UPS driver haul that fast.

UPS ( saving a headache, pretend to lump every UPS logo on tractor is not a different division, no sub contractors driving a tractor with UPS logo ) and Fedex ground is 2 polar opposite animals. Ground sub contractors will pass greyhounds. They seem to have zero governor. Depends on the contractor with feel good fedex name attached. the public doesn't know the difference. :biggrin_2554:

The wreck involved fed ex freight. They are not sub contractors.

Fed ex ground in a day cab? Interesting. Ups trucks I notice are going around 65. They even go exactly 55 in Chicago land for the most part. Now those sub contractors with no governorfir fed ex ground. They blow some doors off.

From what I've seen, fedex freight is one of the worst for idiot drivers. I've had a couple that cut me off just to get to a rest stop or an exit, and when confronted over the cb, they will brag that they can do what they want because supposedly they get paid un ion scale, and im just jealous. as far as I'm concerned, I don't care how much a driver makes, whether he or she is paid higher or lower than me, its still no excuse for driving like a moron.
