I've been looking to switch over to pulling a flatbed and have noticed that all the companies I look into govern their trucks to 62 MPH.
I'm used to 67-70 MPH trucks and have hauled sensitive loads and doubles with no load or speeding issues. Why do all the flatbed companies cut their trucks back so much?
What I am looking for is a flatbed company that gets me home on weekends in the GA area and has at least a 65 MPH truck. Any suggestions?
It seems the only way to get a faster truck is to go the O/O route.
Any flatbed companies that do not govern to 62MPH?

it wouldn't surprise me to see that. flatbed freight is the worse when it comes to wind dynamics. flatbed freight is the worse fuel mileage one can haul.

Reason is most flatbed freight isn't super time sensitive. fuel savings are a lot by going 62 instead of 65. That being said, when i I buy another truck and hire drivers in a few months I dont govern at 62. I find the extra 3 mph does make a difference depending on th week.
Depends ont he load, but flatbed is way more dangerous then doubles when it comes to speed induces roll over. And yes i have hauled both.
check out marvick...i thought they were 65L.B. Thanks this. -
L.B., check out Averitt. Trucks are governed at 65mph. We have service centers all over Georgia, home weekly.

Melton van lines. All flatbed and 65mph. I guess it's better than 62..I'd still perpher faster though

Cypress and Howard Transportation are flatbed; don't know their top speed.
