Hello out there.......I used to drive professionally in my mid twenties but drifted into other fields of endeavor. I am now considering getting my CDL and returning to trucking.
Will a 59 year old man have trouble finding employment because of his age. Thanks for your opinions.

No, there are older guys than you getting into the field. You'll be fine. When you drove in your early 20's were you OTR and with what company?
-
Trucking is about the only profession where there is no age discrimination.
tow614 Thanks this. -
Aye thanks for you input. I drove briefly for Midwestern Distribution and later Melton Truck Lines (they pulled boxes at that time). Most of my time was hauling pipe in FL and Ga.

What is your location, city/state, maybe we can help. -
I agree, age discrimination shouldn't be an issue. However, what is your health status?

Got any health problems?
they will prod you in the physical.
If no you are good to go.tumblin dice Thanks this. -
I've trained students older than you in the past. Age won't be a problem with most companies as long as you are healthy enough to pass a DOT physical.

IMHO trucking companies would rather hire someone with real life experience and maturity. Less hand holding required and depending on the background a more mature person understands the bigger picture.tumblin dice Thanks this.
