Truer words have never been spoken. Need to boil it down down to something we can put on the back of trailers. Maybe, "Shut up and haul it right?"

Rates for short haul have remained steady for the last few months....We actually did pretty well in the months I thought we would be slow.

JJ has a pretty steady run he does every week and we are working on a second round trip with the same broker.

Guys that are complaining about rates are obviously running iffy lanes and if its an iffy lane you quote a round trip rate!

That's two years in a row now on month's that I figured would be bad, were not bad. I still didn't work much but I heard it was busy and the money was good.

cranes make $500 an hour. and require 4 hours to take one small machine off.

realistically, the job can be done in 15 minutes. but at $500 per hour. i'm in the wrong business.

Since I used to work on cranes and operate them I can tell you with most cranes it will take more than 15min to just set up. Also the customer will always pay for the travel time from and to the job as well. We had an 800t Demag crane that when setup with all the counter weights, all the boom, super lift attachment and luffing jib would require over 30 flatbed loads to bring all the pieces to the site. I believe it used to be a $30,000.00 set up fee just to show up.

i could see for a big job. but my load was just a small peice. they had a gradall come in. don't know why they just didn't use that instead. the thing was only 15 feet long and couldn't have weighed more then 4k pounds. the terminal threw it on the trailer with a forklift only. in 2 minutes.

now, my last load. that was a BIG AND HEAVY machine. both times i've been the only load needing a crane.

Why are all these people annoying me, by idling their trucks?? :biggrin_25516::biggrin_255: Course, it could be that I'm still annoyed at AGAR and at just how sloooooooooooooooooooooow, there becoming. :biggrin_2551::biggrin_25516::biggrin_2552::biggrin_2553:

Why can't receivers sign my bills and give to me before Takeing off. I get real tired of walking all over the country looking for my bills before I can leave.
