I'm looking for flatbed/specialized companies that will hire students out of the Bristol, TN area. I'm aware of Roehl, Maverick, Melton, McElroy, Boyd, and TMC. I'm just wanting to see what else is out there. My goal is to start out with flatbed and then go to work doing heavy haul after gaining required experience. Thank you for your help with this search.

Thanks, Watkins & Shepard does have flatbed, but it's for O/O's.

They show company Van and Flatbed on their website for experienced drivers (http://www.wksh.com/RecruitingCompanyDrivers.aspx). They do not specify ether one on their recent graduate page but I don’t know why t would be any different. Worth giving them a call if you haven’t already.

Prime has a flatbed division, and you can go in as a student and go straight to flatbed.

Swift will also hire and train you. The pay sucks but we are treated a heck of a lot better than the van guys, there are not nearly as many of us but plenty of miles. Would not be my first choice but they are there if needed. They have not treated me badly.

TMC is all flatbed, specialized, and boat division. They hire students. I got my call today that I was accepted. They are pretty strict on their hiring, go over to www.tmctrans.com and check their website out, check out some of their youtube videos, fill out an app if you think you can make it.

I ran flats for them, they usually make you start on the van side before switching over to the flatbed side. About 50/50 company, O/O. Really like the setup and the dispatch but was really hurting for miles

I've talked to a recruiter from E.W. Wylie, they don't hire students.
