Just got my Cdll/looking for some advice when choosing some companies?

As far as NYC goes I have yet to deliver in the city always just past through but have spent a lot of time in Jersey which can be just as bad. Chicago again not in The city itself mostly on the out skirts. Rhode Island is the only one I haven't been to yet. I am a trainer so I run team a lot but I decide when I want a trainee. However I ran solo most of my first year to just get back into the swing of things before I decided to train anyone. Even solo I would get some coast to coast runs which are nice cause then I don't have to deal with dispatch for a few days lol

 

I get the trainee after they have gotten their CDL either through Prime or a CDL school and teach them the rules of the road that the school doesn't teach. Like what pin hole you need to be in when going to California, how to scale your load, how sliding your tandems moves the weight of the load. Of course the biggest is how to safely make it down a 6 or 7% six mile long downgrade without smoking your brakes. The first couple weeks are a little rough because a new driver has to build up their driving indurance and for me to feel comfortable to sleep behind them when they are diving. Part of the training is teaching them how the company do's and don'ts, what to do when they get to a shipper/receiver. Making sure they understand the hours of service rules and what to do if they get pulled into a scale house. After the first couple of weeks we run pretty much as a team most of the time however the training doesn't stop there. Every time the truck slows down for any reason I feel it and I will popup to see why and make sure things are ok.

 

He said he wants to keep his facial hair... just sayin'... kinda eliminates tanker as a choice.
