I'm doing a run from Chicago to Phoenix and I want to know where I can stop and get some great food. I will be taking I 55, I 44, I 40 and finally I 17. My first cboices are BBQ, fried chicken and steak but I will eat most anything as long as it's good.
Thanks

Atta boy korky........
I Like guys like you that still enjoy the Home-cooked meals at the diners or truck-stops.......
If your going South on i-55 Stop At Dixie Boy Truckers Home in McLean,Il(exit 145)... The G@Y Pilot bought them..But the Restaurant is Still top Notch
The Petro in Joplin isnt too shabby, Nice restaurant and Good spirits -
On 44 east of Joplin the hungry house used to be good place to eat. I don't remember the exit number but it is west of hood's truck stop, they also have a good restaurant there.

There's a great place---can't remember the name---but they have a large yellow "M" out front. They sell pretty good burgers and fries at a decent price. They have shakes and coffee drinks too. You're bound to hit one eventually. Good luck!

Had one of my pilot cars take me to eat at the Big Texan in Amarillo last week. Foods real good (didn't try that 72ounce steak), and they had this group of women from Australia there traveling by stagecoach. Cute waitresses, adult beverages too. It's an experience, but the prices are a bit steep for a working man. I believe that if you call them, they will send one of their limos out to the truckstops to pick you up.
