Try it in California. Or Oregon. I'm sure the trooper will be easy on him......

I'll push it when in California out in the desert but I ran a solid 58 when I was in Oregon.

Five over, except in construction zones, and drive like you have a brain, even if it is a new experience for you. That is my rule and I haven't had a ticket in over 25 years. Some states will give you a bigger margin, like Mo, in light traffic but five over is a good rule of thumb. Just don't tailgate at any speed that is a big no no with most LEO.

Sometimes I miss the 55 truck limit in ohio. Was fun running in convoys on the turnpike at 58 mph seeing a trooper every 10-20 miles parked in the median from Indiana to PA.

About 10 years ago coming across 70 I got nailed in Cambridge for 68 in a 55. $100 ticket. I called for a bear report and the cop answered me back. He told me that. I appreciated his honesty and had a laugh about it.

When I was training, my trainer and I were running with another Stevens driver. They were running 65. I was sitting in the passenger seat. We got a bear report about a trooper at the 100mm near the service area. We slowed down but as we approached the service area, we saw the bear get out of his cruiser and pointed to both trucks to pull over. Turns out there was a bear in the air 10 miles back. Wrote both trucks up for 10 over.

Basically the Ohio rule of thumb is the troopers cut you slack by not pulling you over.

Probably the same buckeye trooper that would hide around cambridge in the early 90s. He'd get on the radio late at night and call trucks out.. slow it down boy. If the driver wasnt listening or mouthed off he'd nail em.

One of the few times I gotta disagree w/tonytruckerdude--can't talk bout safety dir or govt control--but speed & fuel mileage goes hand in hand---now im not advocating anybody do anything different---
But in my case(& I ran Very Veru Hard for many years)and my 379 runs well into triple digits---bit just the difference between 75&65 is over a gallon a mile•--•-& I have all the #s w/my ride that proves it....so I typically stay under 65 nowadays--but that's just me.....& my wallet thanx me:D
