DAYTON — The deadly shooting at Love's Travel Stop in December will be presented to a Montgomery County grand jury, prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. announced Monday afternoon.Security guard Joshua Karp, 25, says he shot and killed trucker Goran Sojic, 48, on Dec. 8 after he claimed Sojic charged at him.Prosecutors met three times before deciding to move the case on to a grand jury.Sojic was acting erratically toward Karp and began walking toward the counter of the truck stop store at Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and Cincinnati Street, almost appearing as if he was attempting to go behind the counter, Dayton Lt. Mark Ponichtera said at the start of the investigation in December. The guard claims he felt threatened and shot at the subject, striking him once in the chest and once in the arm, according to the incident report.Sojic died at Miami Valley Hospital. He was the driver of one of the trucks that had stopped at the gas station. His truck was registered out of Illinois, police said. - See more at: http://www.whio.com/news/news/crime...-going-grand-jury/nffFW/#sthash.ingw5kH0.dpuf

    New poster here.

As former military with two tours in the Stan (82nd Abn Infantry) and having been in such situations and also as a resident of Daytroit I can say I would have done the same. For all of you saying shoot him in the leg that is utter nonsense. Any lawyer/leo can tell you that if you're going to shoot someone in self defense it is legally better to kill them. If someone charges you, especially someone acting erratically and you don't know if they're on drugs or what's wrong with them, I would not bet my life on a tazer or OC spray.

IMHO, if you charge an armed man you're stupid and the human gene pool is better off. Also, I would NEVER accept a security position in Dayton unless I was armed. I won't even go to Speedway without a piece here, let alone guard a truckstop on Cinncy st

    My .02 cents.

    Agreed, and welcome.

I don't know exactly when we started to give so many chances to criminals, drunks, druggies, and crazies. I say protect the innocent, at the expense of the others if need be.

I just count my blessings that I don't live in the communist north where they care more about protecting bottom feeders than they do the citizenry. My life is more important to me than some deranged guy running at me.

I can assure you theirs no shortage of gun owners in the north. I'm from MA and we love our guns. We also have a Castle Doctrine. Our concealed permitting process needs help, but our guns laws arent as strict as TX which most people assume is very gun friendly.

I thought MA had stricter laws, forgive my ignorance. I know Vermont has lax laws. When I say communist north I'm mostly refering to NY and NJ

MA has the most CONFUSING laws. The permitting system is destroyed and allows police chief to make up reason to screw with you. But most jurisdictions outside the Boston area don't screw with you. Once you get your permit your pretty much left alone. Signs have no force of law, you can carry in bars, although nobody does it outside the country open carry is legal. What kills MA is the 10rd mag limit which can be worked around, and the assault weapons ban, which can also be worked around but stupid just the same.
