Well when I drive through Arizona and New Mexico it makes for a boring trip. I get super annoyed when the guy in front of me is only able to go half a mile an hour slower than me. It takes 3 miles to pass them or the line of trucks stuck at the same speed. I want to be able to pass them quickly so I'm not holding up a mile of traffic. That is my major grieve with having a governed truck and if the steer tire blows. Being able to speed is not a big deal for me, being able to do the speed limit, pass people if I need or want to and have more control over my own driving is.

I know the original question was, how fast till the cops pull you over but no one can answer that. Just depends on the cops mood that day. Usually I can get away with going 5 over the limit anywhere I have been. Some places 10 over but that's pushing it and I needed my CB and bird dog for that. I haven't pushed that hard since 2003 when I drove my last fast truck.

I've seen a few comments concerning blowing a steer tire. If guys/gals are worried that they can't mash the peddle in the event of a blown steer tire the answer seems quite simple......leave yourself some throttle room even if that means going a little slower or.....find a company with faster trucks to work for.

Coming into towns or construction zones, I am always under before I cross the sign. They call them speed traps for a reason and they are not catching me. The only time I go over the limit when its 55 or higher.

I made a few run in ND and rarely did I see any trucks even going the speed limit.

ME too. I barely had time to tell them on the CB to leave my door signs at the next exit before they were out of sight. i haven't had to replace my door signs again since I stopped going there.

I have a simpler answer; find an occupation to which you are better suited. The proper response to a blown steer tire is not acceleration or braking.

Your right GPS man. Someone has misinformed someone on what to do when a steer tire blows. I certainly hope it was not an instructor.

You get what you get LEO's all around do not talk to each other and set limits. In IN you will get a ticket for 1 mile over in some parts and none in others. They do not have quota's but if the last 3 LEO's gave out 50 tickets and one of them only gave out 20 then they look at him as if he is not doing his job...
That been said their are two old quote: " If you don't have the time, don't do the crime"
"If you have money to burn, set your wheels on fire"

Gordon A and gpsman Thank this.
