I'm a big fan of Rain-X treatment on the windshield. Be careful with the washer fluid though, I put it in my wife's car and found the wax in it gummed up the hoses and nozzles after about a year.
-
a bottle of Dawn Dish soap w/ water
package of paper towels
now, this doesn't exactly keep the bugs off the windshield, really isn't much out there that will keep the bugs off.
However, I clean my windows every night when I stop (that way I don't have to do it in the morning). I clean them off at fuel stops and if it gets really bad, I'll pull into a rest stop, pop the hood latches and climb up on the tire and use my scrubee and get it wet with my soapy solution, scrub all the bugs off. If it's gonna rain, I'll throw on some rain-x. If it's gonna be hot and sunny, I just use standard foam based glass cleaner (windex and liquid glass cleaners just streak up).
it's about all you can. everyone now and then, you get lucky and a heavy rain comes and knocks all them bugs off for ya and you aint gotta do it. -
A good rain storm seems to work the best as the bugs soften up over time and the wipers scrub it away.
Paracord, the new baling wire! -
Haven't had any of those big Yellow gut bugs hit me lately. I guess they all committed suicide.

I mix ammonia and vinegar with my wash fluid. Seems to work smells like a douche, but oh well. Not sure if I'm willing to try the dish soap just yet
