I uh... know this guy... that pulled into a small dirt lot outside the Colton, CA WalMart DC because he was out of hours & needed a spot to park while waiting for his load.
Well, while pulling into this lot, this sad sack snapped the ground wire to a transformer, knocking out the power for several blocks.
There were two other trucks around at the time. The one parked out on the street got the guy's attention and pointed out the snapped ground wire, then decided to move along to avoid any drama with the law dogs. The fella in the third truck was knocked out cold and didn't answer or even open his curtain when the guy that snapped the ground wire went a knocking.
So... the fella that snapped that ground wire left the third truck alone in the lot and to the best of my knowledge, never got caught up in his tomfoolery.
On another note, I happened to notice on a recent trip to Colton that ground wire is kept at a different angle these days. -

Mine was last week. Got my second load of the day, didn't read the ticket. Just assumed it was to the same job as the first load. Got on the job, unloaded, headed back to plant. Another customer calls dispatch wondering where his load of concrete is? OOPS!
Shaggy Thanks this. -
Nice to know we're all human. After a long day and a half, I put 10 gallons of gas in my truck before I realized it.

Only been on the road a couple months and fortunately haven't had anything on the road yet, but at cdl school, license already in pocket and it was one of our last days, we were practicing 45* backs with a 53' into a 12 ft opening using actual trailers. Generally we were needing at very least a pull up to get it right, but on one of them, I slid it right in like I'd been doing it for years. Shout, " Yeah! Get you some of that!" And go to get out to let the next guy go... forgot to set the brakes and the truck started to roll. Fortunately I caught it before I was out of arms reach and pulled the buttons and then walked away humbled and very embarrassed. I haven't forgotten to set my brakes since.
Puppage and Generictrucker Thank this.
