I think the pro-shifting argument has more to do with learning to anticipate traffic, speed, stops, etc. My dad forced me to learn to drive in a stick to keep me from being 'lazy-in-the-head' while driving. My first car was a stick because that's what I could afford. Not since then, though. Autos are muuuuch nicer in stop-and-go traffic. The truck is still a stick. The next one will likely be a stick, too.

    Other comment -
More carriers have stick trannies, than autos at this time. If you only know how to run auto, that limits the number of places you can apply to.

REAL MEN use swords! HOW can you call yourself a real soldier if you don't use a sword! These dang kids today with their guns, and scopes, and range finders, and GPS controlled missiles are a bunch of lazy panzy cowards. REAL MEN use a sword for combat and THAT'S IT! We don't need no stinking guns, or fancy schmanzy computer operated drones - drones mess up what happens then? Guns Jam!!! My Sword NEVER JAMS!!! The guy with the gun is gonna be there with a jammed gun that doesn't work and then I will take him down with my SWORD!!! --- Says the Supertrucker who only uses his cb and a pay phone and a by god manual transmission!! :biggrin_25525:

We had a brand new International have to go into the shop to get that piece of crap transmission worked on.

And nobody likes driving our new Freightliner straight trucks because of the way the hesitate.

    interesting

i hear this same mantra from eloggers

and now i am a supertrucker because i prefer a manual transmission

between paper logs, an ungoverned truck, not having to worry about "home time", no qualcomm, and driving a manual transmission, i guess i better start get used to this new moniker

SUPER TRUCKER ALL DAY, ALL THE WAY!!!
