    Depends on what size your data plan is. I do the regular updates and such and it doesn't make a big dent on my plan but mine is pretty large- read expensive.

    I am using the phone as a wire card/ internet connection. Planning to install the dock software on a laptop. Just worried about the size of the download.

    This is from the Rand McNally website
    Hard Disk Space:


    • At least 8 GB
    Which would exceed my data plan by a good bit.

    Usually around 200-400 mb... On the back what model does it show on the serial number?

    Ah,, you are trying to install the Dock, not do an update. I would wait till you got home and on high speed internet.

    Unfortunately no high speed internet at home. Just cellular data plan. Suppose I could try McDonalds or Lowes wifi as was suggested earlier in the thread.

    Searched manual didnt see how to put on hold trip while pulling into truck stop ,using rand mcnally 710
