So I went to CRST to get my license and go to work. I have been on the road 2 months now. They run only teams, which I thought I could handle. I cant... I don't sleep when the truck is moving. I CANT sleep.... so my sleep debt racks up fast and it shows by then of the month out on the road. I only get little naps at best. I need to drive solo, but CRST doesn't allow it. I am not sure what to do here. I want a solo job, but have the contract with CRST. If I stay on a team I fear it may eventually catch up with me. I live in OKC, OK. Would love to find a job that would handle my contract obligations for CRST and let me ride solo. Box or Flatbed doesn't matter to me. I would even go get my hazmat and tanker if the job required it. Being able to bring the wife and dog along would be a big plus also.

Any suggestions? I hear Melton might be an option. What about local/regional companies? If I ran local/regional I could get more hometime. I would give up a certain amount of pay for better hometime....

I ran with Melton and loved the company and the equipment is top notch. I only left because I got a job at home. East of I-35 they get you home every two weeks and west of i-35 they say 3 weeks. I made great money with them.

You need at least 3 months when I looked last year. To Jump ship to a slightly better bottom feeder. Do you owe them money for the cdl? What type of money you making?

You mention a contract with CRST, you should be able to stay at CRST but move to another division, have you made any internal inquiries? CRST Malone?

Find a company to hire you as a solo driver. Pay what you owe crst in monthly installments or don't. Worst they'll do is send you to collections.

Bad advice H2O on many levels. If you agree to something do everything you can to fulfill your part of the agreement.

That being said, OP should work with them and come to an agreeable solution.

Sleeping pills ... ? You don't have to have the ones that say sleeping pills on them ... Benadryl has the same stuff in it that will make you sleep, if you take 2 pills, 25mg each, that will knock you out SOLID for 8 hours and you will feel great when you wake up. Maybe start with 1 pill and see where that gets you.

Or you could just chalk it up as an experience of learning how to pull reefer freight ... sometimes we don't get much sleep ...
