    This was from New York.

I have not spent the night in Pennsylvania in years. I just remember seeing the signs and the law on the search. I do not idle, so it does not bother me.

I don't idle either, but I thought you were talking all three. But NY troopers will take temperature into consideration. Talking to them is how I've found that out.

I have seen them telling drivers to turn off the truck. Do not know whether they got a ticket. It was quite cold out once and the other very hot.

Makes me think about putting in a bunk heater.

Under a certain temperature they usually do not. It's usually extremes though. Like under 10 or above 90.

If you are concerned, stay out of New York.

Not concerned since I do not idle. I posted so that others can be aware.

joseph, the anti-idle law in PA had a twilight clause for temperature provisions. That twilight period is over, now it's no idling at all. California had a similar idling stance that sleeper trucks could idle up until 2008. PA used to be something like below 40 and above 70 could idle. But, no more.

    http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/deputate/airwaste/aq/cars/docs/Final_Act_124_Fact_Sheet.pdf

The reason for exemptions due to heat was lack of climate-control devices that trucks could be equipped with. Now, years down the road, it's expected sleeper trucks should have some form of climate-control, namely APUs, Bunk heaters, fans, etc.

Florida's also is expiring (now or so, forget when) for their sleeper berth provision. If you want to be comfortable, either drive in the other states, or do something about it. Legislatively, or invest financially in your own well-being. And if your company doesn't want to accommodate you, find someone else to drive for.

    joseph1135 Thanks this.

It states in that PA document if your truck has the California Certified Clean Idle sticker, you are exempt from the idling restrictions.

New Jersey has a similar exemption, though in NJ it requires

    A. That your truck have a DPF (Meaning every truck built with year 2007 emissions)

    B. The driver is in the SLEEPER BERTH (not sitting in the drivers seat, not standing outside talking to another rooster cruiser)
