Sure did. Life is too short to be miserable. I get home just about every weekend and apparently I'm one of the few that actually enjoys their job. I can wake up every morning knowing that I'm happy and my family is well taken care of. I won't be over the road forever, but id like to stack away enough money for a down payment for a new house on the lake. Then I'll go back to my local job enjoying only working 40 hours a week with paid holidays off. Things work different for people. Local doesn't pay well where I'm at, so OTR works for now.
My experience with Roehl Transport and OTR in general

Are you still in Chicagoland? Maybe you'd like to settle near a lake in lets say Blairstown, IA. -
By lake I meant Mississippi River. I live about a half hour from Sabula, IA. Used to work in Clinton. I'm dying to sell our house and be on the water.

Meltom, I don't recall. I'll be at the river this weekend. I'll check!
And hahaha. I could always trailer the house to the waterMeltom and Redriderex Thank this. -
Local drivers have to deal with something OTR drivers don't, and that's a commute. Mine is 45 minutes one way.
When I was driving for a construction company they tried to get me to take a dump truck out with a broken front spring. Absolutely not.
Second, I'll admit to not play well with others myself. That is why I do this job. It's a good fit. Many drivers fit into this category. Tolerance, or perhaps even enjoyment of solitude is somewhat of a prerequisite for this job, and for you to compare them to "Neanderthals" the way you have is quite insulting.
If you were truly a friend to him one would think you'd try to be a little more understanding.Last edited: May 12, 2014

If I were an OTR guy I would be in uniform at all times like I usually am now.
Thank you very much.

Roehl was one of my first choices but doing my research here straight up set off my Spidey Sense that it would be a disorganized, overbearing micro managing joke with asinine nit picky rules. You should have done your research everything you needed to know is within the pages of these forums. Next time be smarter and good luck!
