Ok so I have been driving almost a year and enjoy it but everyday I drive I am more stressed about crashing and becoming unemployed since I gave up my house and everything else to come out here. I drive safe, use the smith system and drive for prime so I go slow as hell to. But Im always nervous about crashing does anyone else have that problem and if not how did you get rid of being nervous all the time

hold on loosely, just like riding a bike, if you're scared you will have an accident and being scared is normal in certain situations but you just have to have confidence in yourself at all times.

The nervousness slowly fades but will never go away and you will eventually get a situational awareness/ Confidence. Complacency injures/kills.

going slow as heck will defenitely get you in an accident.

after a year. you should be used to it by now.

i got pulled over by highway patrol for going slow. it's illegal. used to be 45 minimum on the highway. but the signs are gone. and apparently 55 is too slow when the speed limit is 80. didn't get a ticket though. just a few questions.

Sure I get nervous at times. Keeps me alert and on my toes.I have lost my nerve in traffic, and had to pull over, get out of my truck, and calm down before going back to trucking. The trick is to not get keyed up and stay tense all the time. That is bad. Try to relax,be cool & keep your mind on what is happening, be calm. Think ; you have made it this far OK, you can keep doing good.
If you let the 'what ifs' consume your thinking, there will be problems.

    You can do it.

after a year of driving the same truck, you should not be nervous

i thimk you have too much safety manager nonsense bouncing around in your head. if you are like me, driving slow makes me more nervous and stressed.

get in your truck, leave all that safety paranoia behind you and drive your truck

and i mean, Drive your truck

dont let dot, safety, csa, or anyone else do the driving

you DRIVE YOUR TRUCK and you will do fine

Thanks Follwer ya made me smile, 30 years later, 15yrs pulling big loads I still get nervous thinking what I have to do today, still get sweaty palms coming into big city's.
Ya just have to come to grips with it.
Take a deep breath, blow it out and tell yourself we got a job to do, and we're gonna do it just like yesterday, with no problems.
End of the day walk to the back of the trailer shake it off and smile, we did good, then do it again tomorrow. It'll get easier. And yes " hold on loosely" good one AZS

You do what's right and you won't crash. Somebody else may hit you. But you do what you know to do. Stay in between the lanes, and keep a good following distance. Also I think your stress comes from putting all your eggs in one basket. Get out and look when its a tight back. Ask for help even. Cover your tail. Save your money get yourself a fat girl with a good job,and you will be alright. Also stoppppppp Death Gripping the steering wheel.
