about you: forums seemed interesting, started with the pay calculation thread starting with spreadsheets. nice idea. So I joined.

    About me:

for the curious. I was forced into trucking because of the economy. I did not want to go OTR, but did a little with crossborder hauling. I still would rather do local. I aimed for the Bakken at first, but am now widening my horizons. I have 7 months experience now. Aiming for not getting ripped off.

question 1: I get the idea that some CDL Jobs pay more? Please add to or correct the following list:

    - ice roads
    - oil fields
    - coal mines
    - other mines
    - over size

Can anybody rank these and others according to pay?

question 3: Are there any local jobs that intersect with higher pay? (I met Canadian local/regional fellows that said they were well paid, got home daily, and had some/all weekends off if they so chose)

question 4: Are there any other (possibly) countryside, local jobs that pay well AND stay mostly local and can have one weekend day off a week? I prefer country to city.

question 6: If we have hyperinflation, what is going to happen to truckers, their homes, possessions, families, any and all other? I ESPECIALLY WOULD LIKE ANSWERS FROM THOSE WHO STUDY HISTORY ABOUT THIS IN OTHER COUNTRIES.

Have it in writing and understand fully what you are getting into...and no 1099 jobs.
