According to the DAT and all other load boards starting negotiation point supposed to at $1150 for this load by appt to Hagertown MD from Columbus OH about 450 all miles and Tolls, Next day delivery is important. Marry at Hogans says they have been doing it for $900. Q? who has been running for them and where do they by fuel from?

Am I getting this kind of ridiculous answers because of the behind the seen terrorism or every one else is running for fuel only even if going to the bad market areas (northeast)
Here is the answer from Alex from Con Way on Monroe Twp NJ run says $1300 with appt (biggest BS) DAT say mini on that lane to stay in business is $1700+

Scott Log figured to help out the cause as well, He wants $140 to Newark NJ and $2000 for Portland ME. Both are a joke to any one who goes to those areas.

atrucker, you do realize you have the freedom to not accept a load that doesn't meet your rate requirements right?

And yes this problem is in any market. I am saying it is not possible that people are running out of the pocket expense. And yes I have not accepted the load yet it has been over a week. And if you are telling me to re-position myself to a better market you must have no clue about the markets. Cincinnati, Columbus are the market places where the freight is highest, in these market. The terror behind the seen will offer me load 150 mile out dead head for a joke of rate.
Cavalry Log, is one of them he wanted to run the elite load with barely enough times to pick up and then run all night for a regular market rate and this con-artist say we will have to complete a setup process and contract.
Here is this phone answerer from BNSF Log, he says his name is Stone (8005760973) $1100 for a 500 miles full load to Thorofare NJ with appt BS and elite times full 40K load. Wow, that BS

Mary would love for you to believe her line. Sure, maybe at some point in the past Mary moved one of her loads for that rate, but it was....

    A) not with me

    And,

    B) not today

Now, if Mary would like to move one of these loads with me, today, she will have to be willing to come to terms with me.

I'm not unreasonable, but I am in control of what my truck does. Mary will have to accept a rate that I set, if she wants to load my truck.

    It really is that simple.

    RedForeman and GITRDUN45 Thank this.

You need to learn how to counter an offer, successfully. Until you learn to do this you will be the victim.

Rate negotiations are really nothing more than arguments. Not all arguments are hostile, and a rate negotiation should always remain civil.

Mary's argument is weak, it amounts to, "this is the rate, because I said so".

It's easily countered with, "this is the rate, and I'm in control."

At this point Mary either moves toward your position, or chooses to end the call.

The broker never sets the rate, and neither does the shipper.

The market sets the rate, the market being the available carriers that are looking for loads.

Here is another good one from JB Hunt Jared (5859397541) said they move this 43k load about 500 miles, over I-68 n us50, I-79 and then PA turnpike and then the Gettysburg area for $1150 all the time. Who picks up for them all the time??? at this rate over hilly roads with truck running close to 80k and toll for this run approx $250, fuel in PA $4.50/gal
So all the answers are the same that people are running their trucks for fuel n expenses only, out of the Columbus OH market???
