No. They only hire experienced drivers or drivers out of one particular school located in NC.

OOIDA has filed a lawsuit against Michigan because of one particular state trooper. He pulled a truck over and asked the driver for all log books in the truck. The driver gave him about 2 months of log books, even though you're only supposed to keep the last 7 days. The trooper found nothing wrong, but put him out of service anyway saying the logs show he is running too tight. Then had his truck towed to a storage facility. It's on OOIDA website. It's looking like the trooper has something going on with the tow company. The troopers says he's a former 0/0 and knows all the tricks.

Don't forget guys; the annual "72 hour DOT inspection blitz" is in like 3 weeks. It's June 3, 4 and 5 this year. The states are ramping up for it so expect those scales that are always closed to be open and to get pulled more and more for absolutely no other reason just an inspection; which the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers have every right in the Law to do. Many states conserve money by certifying their State Troopers to be CMV Enforcement and Inspectors as well so they do double duty.

It's just that time of year again. Spring has sprung and the love bugs in the south are swarming, the box elder bugs the size of sparrows in the high plains, the beetles with skin so hard it cracks windshields ALL over and DOT ALL over are all out in full force and are targeting your fresh cleaned from winter crud rig.

All we can do is be aware of it and be prepared.

Yea Michigan has always been bad about that. That's one state you better have everything in order before you cross the line. You don't have to do anything there to get stopped.
Good job, nc, you did right. In the 35 years I've driven a truck, I can't begin to tell you how many times I've been pulled over, for no apparent reason. Every time, I treated the officer with respect, did what they asked, and above all, KEPT MY BIG MOUTH SHUT! And most times, they let me go, unless I had it coming. It's a shame that's what it's come to, but who knows what that officer just done done with before they stopped you, maybe some trucker with a abducted kid, or who knows. Remember, it's their business to find out what's going on, you did good. BTW, was it a woman cop? I've had my toughest times with women cops!
LOL yea especially that one at the southbound Seymour, IN scale. I think she gets too much pleasure out of burning truckers?LOL

I disagree with this statement. They do need probable cause but when you are driving probable cause is many things. The first thing you should always do when interacting with a police officer is ask why are we interacting? Why are you stopping me should be the first thing out of your mouth.

Most police officers are just guys out doing their jobs. They want to be treated Professionally and so do we. So ask them. There is an officer who stops Trucks all the time in Ohio. Nice guy but he is out to write as many tickets as he can. He stopped me and did the quick inspection. Found out that my tail lights on my tractor did not work. Funny they worked fine during the pretrip. It seems that the plug came undone when he was under the trailer looking at it. I have since talked to other truckers who have had the same experience.

I was pulled over a couple months ago. The first thing the officer said was the reason why, "just a check of paperwork. If everything is fine we'll have you on your way in about 15 minutes."

We just got new plates and stickers and I did not file the registration in the right spot. I gave him everything else, Med card, DL, Fed tax, truck Ins. etc...

While he was back in the cruiser I kept looking for the registration. I found it filed one letter off in my permit book. When he came back I offered it to him, but he said, "No need. I checked it online." Then gave me a printout of the level 3 inspection "passed" and was speeding off after another before I could even put the permit book back in its place.

He Left me hangin' trying to get back into rush hour speeding traffic off of a very short shoulder though!

Those blue lights were a bit scary. Maybe because I had just passed a super slow four wheeler and used the third lane to do it.

Hey 70s, I've always thought women go into law enforcement because they are "man haters". Years ago, there was one tough gal that ran the scales south of Madison, Wis. on I-90, and she would make life awful for many drivers. I went "around" that scale many, many times, just for that reason. But rumor has it, and I heard this from a trucker that heard it from another trucker(and so on), but she pulled over 2 trucks at night near Mauston, Wis. and the truckers handcuffed her to the door of the cruiser, pulled her pants down, and took off, and she had it in for men ever since.
