I imagine you choose your own times to run?

As a company driver, they run me whenever I have available driving hours so I could drive all night long and then drive all day long the next day. I never feel like I had a good night's sleep this way. Do you get to drive nights or days as you choose as an o/o? I dont think the dispatcher even realizes how difficult it is drive nights and days for 10+ hours on random days. Before I would drive a couple night runs during the week but now it's back and forth.

Just say NO. Otherwise you'll be having health problems/accident down the road. Keep a regular schedule. Your just another number to them. They'll use you up. Next.

You're working for the wrong company if you have to drive like that. Lots of company drivers pick their own drive times. Just have to find the right company.

If you are not getting expedited pay don't give them expedited service. Slow down and enjoy life, not enough money in trucking to run around the clock. I used to prefer running nights until a lot of companies started using elogs. Now after 1 or two all you can do is pass another truck without them swerving at you while they are sleeping. I usually just let the old cat do the waking up as I go by. You can choose how to run.

Yeah but I make up to $1600 per week and every other company I look at pays minimum wage besides o/o. I do know that it seems everyone at the main headquarters knows and respects me when I stop by. They all stand up to shake my hand and say how they have heard about me. I guess they are shocked that I can handle the nonstop work they throw at me perhaps designed to make me quit but I keep going strong. I grew up in a small town without many jobs you either worked until your feet bled or you were fired.

money is important but so is your health, safety and well being, along w the safety of other people that share the road with you. A good planner should route you better , I would think.

Welcome to trucking but just remember, if you are out there running against your hours, You are the one D.O.T. is going to hit, not the company. You are the one responsible for operating that truck within the law.

Well you wont have to worry about getting fired in some trucking companies until after D.O.T catches you, at which time you'll become a red headed step child. My point is cover your own butt, doing a good job for a company at the risk of your career is being stupid.

Why do you assume im running illegal? My logs are cleaner than a preacher's sheets. They run me nonstop til my 70 is up then they have me do the 8 day thing until I get hours back then I run nonstop again until I get a 34 hr hometime.
