That is very true ...... however it's a perfect tool if your going to return to the same place.

I do not advocate the action, only stating it can be done.

Your company can edit drive time for you. I was on phone everyday getting them to adjust something

it does more then that. you can unplug. drive around for the day. plug.
your in the exact same spot. but it notices miles added and fuel loss. and screams at you for the next 8 days.

There are many of us Truckers who also like to fly airplanes. We have a different idea about logging then those who do not fly.

Logging is a tool. It is not something that is meant to control your life it is something to make you a better and safer driver. Period. Do not be so afraid of it.

It has been posted that first all elogs are different. You are talking about Qualcomm. Qualcomm is going out of business within the next 5 years as it is too expensive and the technology has pasted it by. However, if you are using Qualcomm your company can edit it for you. You are required to have 8 days of logs with you. So, carry paper logs as back up. If your Qualcomm breaks down, start a new log. Show off duty for the previous 7 days and fill in today's information as close as you can. You are only needing to show it to a DOT officer. Most of them don't care. So why should you? I do not carry paper logs as I have my eclipse on my laptop and use that as my back up. Big Road is my main log. I would not recommend Big Road but that is what a lot of folks are going to and I was forced into that route.

If you are driving for a mega company that uses Qualcomm and you drive 10 minutes over the 11 hours you are allowed, you will get a nasty gram from your carrier. They will then "Correct" your logs. That way when the government comes in and audits the logs they will not get fined for your illegal behavior. If the company is allowed to edit them, what is the point of them. The way logs have always been used in trucking is bs. Do not sweat BS. Deal with it and move on.

On Qualcom I can download logs to my laptop any time I want. My unit has gone out a couple of times. I just download the last 8 days and keep it as a pdf file while I run paper. It has only ever been down a few hours.

I understand the OP. When we first got E logs we were required to run paper as well until we demonstrated that we knew how to use them. They were always different with the E logs actually giving me a little more drive time. Over 70 hours it was as much as 2 hours. Those minutes you round up to 15 add up

you are 100% mistaken. Qualcomm is so huge the satellite in space THEY own !! Better do your research!! Most other company's rent space of that satellite like cell towers do for companies owned by one company. In no way defending them as I dislike a babysitter at my age but know this is true. So I very seriously doubt their going anywhere soon being most mega carriers and other large businesses use them.

No offense, but Qualcomm is a massive company, with a lot more to offer than electric logs.

Look into it. Or keep spreading your super trucker bs

Verging off topic here, but if you're using a Verizon or Sprint (CDMA) phone, look at the back or under the battery. Betcha it says "Qualcomm" somewhere on it. They've got patents to Kalamazoo and back covering wireless telecommunications, and they make the actual chipsets for the phone manufacturers (a very large number of Android phones/tablets use a Snapdragon processor, for example). They're not going anywhere.

I wish my freaking qualcomm would break. Consider yourself lucky, you get to compete with the owner op guys for a while. I got stuck at a shipper the other day and ended up going over my 14 by a few hours ( I suppose I could have stayed at the shipper, but the only thing I was thinking about was a hot shower and a hot meal.) Got lucky and went by the one south carolina scale that had pre-pass, and got the green light.
