On the morning of May 9, 2014, A CHP officer woke me up. I was north bound on I-5. I went through the T/A truckstop in Buttonwillow, CA. It was full. So I stopped in the rest area a couple miles north of it. I pulled off the road into the dirt at the top of the "off ramp". He wrote me a parking ticket for unlawful parking on freeway. The code is VC 21718. This really upsets me because I had to get off the road. I couldn't keep my eye's open and didn't want to kill someone. Of course I won't have the time to fight it. It just blows me away, for Safety reasons, I get punished. I wished these states would have a heart.

It has nothing to do with safety; it's all about revenue.
Only a scumbag officer would write a ticket like that. With the economy in shambles and high unemployment, it's easy to find scumbags to put uniforms and badges on.

Yea, I don't see how they get away with it. There weren't even any signs saying "no parking" or "Emergency Parking Only". Its a darn shame. I'm just trying to make a living like the rest of us. Don't penalize me for being Safe!!

Husband and his student were pullled off on a very wide spot in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road below Lamar, CO, and he was just a few hours from fininshing his 34 and students 10 when a highway patrol stopped and told them to move. There was one truckstop which they had planned to stay at, but it was slap full.

Yep revenue it is and no heart.

So let me get this straight here..........

Parking was at a Premium,You were tired, You Found a 'spot' in a dirt area at a rest area so you Wouldn't keep driving as possibly kill someone

And this highway Patrol Officer Stopped at the Rest area Twiddling his Thumbs..Found You, WOKE YOU UP and then had the Audacity to Write you a Parking Ticket?

Lord have Frickin' Mercy I Dont even know what else a person could say!

    Dont NitPick this

He Probably was NOT between 2 white lines..Who Cares, as <Long as he was not Impeding traffic in the rest area and he wasnt disturbing the ambiance(parked on grass etc)

That Officer Should be ashamed of himself...Theres No Debate about that

At Best.....The Officer Could have politely asked him to Move..AT BEST! (Still waking someone up is ptetty Tacky and Low)
