You were wise to do so. When they were transitioning GTI guys over I met a number of them in the PHX terminal. There were shocked at the things Heartless did not give. Ie: stand by time waiting to deliver. Standing joke was, Welcome to Heartland Express! LOL

Here is an example of how a company proves it doesn't give a rats ### about you. I'm a single father, I had custody of my daughter when I married my last wife. After she left, I had my daughter only and of course a challenging situation as a driver. I asked in the terminal about becoming a Fleet manager and was told, we don't make drivers fleet managers and you don't want to do this job. My response, "Really, did you miss the part about single father". Obviously I'm gone the moment something better comes along now. Then I asked about looking into one of the GTI local jobs. Again, your employee of nearly 2 years is stuck in a bad situation...could you do something to ease his burden? Nope, they said we don't transfer our drivers to Gordon. Well you know the rest. Heartland could not care less about their drivers.

    mje and 48Packard Thank this.

Call hireright and see what heartless put on your DAC.
also get a copy mailed to your house, you get 1 free copy a year.
If they tried to screw you you'll have to dispute it thru hireright.

If they did try to stick it to you don't blow it off because you
have a good job now, remember it stays on there 10 years.
Theres a good chance you'll be job hunting again before then.

I worked for Heartland 3 months in 2013, had equipment problems, was picked up in Springfield Illinois, by a driver who dropped me off in Louisville Kentucky to pick up another tractor (maxforce).
That was running good, and stopped in N Liberty terminal for fuel, and the shop took it from me, for code violations, and gave me another which had been governed down because of excessive idle time, by the previous driver.
It was on a Saturday, no was around to reset the computer, which caused me to be late for Monday delivery in Florida.
I was forced to hand off the load to make delivery time, and spent the next 2 days at International to reset the computer.
I left Heartland because I didn't like have to take my breaks at a shipper or consignee, where there was no restrooms, for they were closed till morning.
My trip planning would always put me at some truckstop close to where I needed to be, but the E-logs prevented me from staying there, and had time to drive to the plant.
They also kept me from home for 5 weeks straight, and when I did get home it was only for 36 hours.
I gave 1 weeks notice and left, for another job, they had the work, kept me rolling, just didn't care about you, and what you needed to do to keep yourself ready for the next day's assignment.
Let your experience be the "bench mark" for any of these carriers, you don't look out for my interest, then look for another job.
The driver shortage is huge, if your driving record is good, you have to keep looking till one fits for you.

I dont see anything wrong with a company making a profit. But when they have to use
and abuse people to do it thats criminal. At
the very least highly unethical. The biggest
joke about Heartland is they claim they are
the best company our here. If your ever looking
for another driving job check into SEC out of
Lawrenceburg TN, They run plenty of freight
out west. A very good company. I am very
    happy driving for them.

So this is why Heartland is more commonly referred to as Heartless huh.Nothing more angers me then when im at company I sit and sit waiting for a load then the company ecspects you to jump the second they have a load for you and its a short run but its hot load it just has to be there.Im surprised my DAC isn't bad considering how many loads I have refused just for this reason.

I had one plnr say do this 8ml run then a 61 mile run and i have a 1,200 ml preld. I knew i would have to put chewing tobacco in eyes to stay awake to del preld on time, on a crew unld after it rotted for a day at the shpr, so i declined. He whined I would be put on back burner. Not even 2hrs later I had a preldd trl going to same area as prev preld without the 2 junk lds that pay the company, but not the driver.
With some of these outfits the game playing never ends. Sometimes fun, other times annoying

Did'nt bother me to be put on the back burner.Companies wanna play me I can do the same thing,a few hrs I don't have a problem with, but when it turns into sitting for a couple days, then yes there is a problem.Only time companies wanna be productive is at their convenience not the driver.I don't understand where the driver shortage comes in from all these articles I've read.Obviously those ppl writing the story has never drove truck and don't have a clue about carriers. If drivers were in such demand then why so much sitting. With elogs I figure companies would try their best to find loads so drivers can utilize every minute of their 11 and 14.

i think 2 days is probably the most accepted amount of days. especially if they pay for a room that has a jacuzzzzzzi!
