Well today I loaded and unloaded something different on the walking floor trailer and I thought I would share the exciting pictures (lol not so exciting really).. These are all mattresses that are collected because of bed bugs.. The way it is usually done is the company puts them into dry van trailers and they are taken to a place that re-uses stuff from them I guess (never been there) but they pulled the contract a few weeks back so the building where these mostly go to is backed up with 100's of mattresses.. So my department decided to load them on the walking floors and dump them in with the garbage to get rid of them as we have no where to put them... The forklift just puts them on the back and I walk the floor in reverse until they are all up at the front.. I haven't had to bump a dock in years until now...

I just wanted to share because this is new for me (and my department).. They pump off really good... It gives me a break from my usual hauling of recycling and yardwaste.. Plus the load is only 4 tons and I only gross just under 26 tons far away from my usual 40-60 ton gross...

Anyhow enjoy the pictures as much as you can enjoy pictures of garbage lol..

Yuck! I'd have to burn the trailer and truck then take a shower in bleach.

    Nasty!

Winkjr - They don't reuse the mattress.. They reuse the springs and I get rid of the rest I guess.. I don't really know because I never went to those places so I don't know...

Jaguar - They don't fly or get airborne so no need to worry about them getting on me.... I don't touch the freight so I def don't need to worry... The guys who do this stuff have never taken them home with them.. Def not a job I want to stay on for too long tho.. But I don't think I have anything to worry about since I don't touch them...

I had bed bugs back on 08. I was in Japan (military) and my family was in VA... That little bug cost me almost 15 grand. Threw all of the bedroom furniture out; Living room furniture; her whole wardrobe and half of mine, etc... So yea I agree... BURN THOSE DANG THINGS!!

I don't do anything with them.. I dump them in the garbage and leave lol.... Then they go into a garbage trailer which then takes them to the landfill which then gets buried in dirt.....

I doubt I will.. Like I said they are not airborne and I don't touch them... If I do bring them home I will be severely pissed off with my work... I also checked my clothes before I got into my car as well...

They are finding bedbugs shipped in on clothing, like socks, from foreign countries. And they have been training dogs to sniff them out in furniture and stuff.

Because of all the travel between countries, bedbugs are spreading. Motels are a great place to get them at.

What is neat too is a place husband went to with a load of newspapers, circulars, etc that was going to be recycled.
The truck and trailer is put on a lift that then lifts it at an angle and dumps all the stuff out of the trailer bed. You just had to make sure everything in the truck is pretty well secured or it would be in the back of the cab.
