guess none of you heard landline now this past week.

we all agree that fmcsa is out of control. AND, they just don't really care. which has been obvious.

so, how do you stand up to an agency. that just don't care?

And the king of England was not an elected position.

One cannot really stand up against and agency that just doesn't care. You have to think beyond the superficial. They respond pretty quickly when their funding is in jeopardy. And congress controls the purse strings. So, how you fight that agency is to make sure and get folks in congress that can reign in their funding if they do not want to play nice. The word's an agency does not want to hear is "we're auditing your funding". They know right then that the axe is about ready to fall. As long as congress really only plays lip service and doesn't do anything substantive, then we get more of the same.

The election booth will have no effect on the agencies that actually right the rules and regulations that congress enacts. They are so insuluated from the public, that they are the unelected leaders who make our lives miserable. And since the head of each agency is appointed, as a reward for supporting a congressmen or senator, the election booth will change nothing.

And since most states are running a deficit budget, they bow down to the federal agencies to continue to suck at the government tit.

The federal government was never intended to be the most powerful government, that was supposed to be reserved for the states...

and the only oversight the congress does today of the agencies is, did you spend your budget? good here is more dollars.

So i see no hope to ever reign in the out of control government we now have.

This makes my point for me. People, in general, have not remembered, or never took, civics classes in school. The agencies are indeed insulated from the public, but they are not insulated from their budgets. And Congress controls the budgets. And we elect the Congressmen. Oh so simple. Now, folks just need to pay attention to who they are voting for in congress. But Monday Night Football, Nascar, Dancing with the Stars, etc, etc is more important to most folks than taking the time to actually find out who is running and looking at their record and character, even though the internet has made it so much easier to actually research out who is running and who is in there. The average American doesn't want to think that hard. Then they bellyache because nothing changes or gets worse.

cowpie, i agree you, people need to focus more on whats really important

but even if every citizen took care of business, the deal is still stacked

just like trucking, you can get prime, england, swift to come together and have power, but you cant get two truck drivers to come together

so you get gm, monsanto, ibm, etc buying our politicians, much easier than 5million or 50 million individuals

so GM gives him $5million to vote in their favor, how many hours, people, manpower and organization would it take to override that type of power over these crooks in congress?

i actually stopped paying attention. due to the fact that it don't matter who gets elected. EVERYONE complains what a lousy job they are doing.

i don't bellyache, and i could care less about who's dancing with what star. or who's going to be the next idol.

Queen Isabella of Spain footed the bill for Columbus' little junket.Columbus was Italian, and the small Italian courts like Florence couldn't afford it, plus they figured that he was nuts. England and Spain were bitter enemies at the time.

But in reality, congress does not control the budget, the agencies submit the budget, and congress rubber stamps it. Congress says they are to busy with campaigning, and smoozing with their supporters to actually do their jobs. And that will NOT change unless congress returns to the constitution, and term limits are imposed.

how is it strange.... the FMCSA submits a budget request to congress, congress "debates" it, rubber stamps it with an increase of spending.... rinse repeat.... Reality. That is NOT how it is suppose to work, but that is the way it does work.
