im able to stay busy but since I got to do all on my own sometimes its too much, and since people don't like going into long island(I charge nothing less than 900 for going there) and I love it makes things a little simpler still is tougher than I expected that's why I had to use transnoble as a supplemental broker, depending on how things go next year I will be trying to haul some dry vans for them since the process is way less complicated. for me a decent week is 3k(im going to school so that takes a chunk of my available time) this is my breakdown 600 on tolls, 100 per day for maintenance, 700 fuel that leaves me with 1200 a week then again my average take home after all this is usually 2k to 2500 a week

I was leased to TransNoble for few months, these people are bottom feeders, what they pay is legs not full rate. They talk nice all right but their rate are the lowest.

I'm looking into buying a truck and doing intermodal. I live in Linden NJ. I'm not sure which company would be good to start out with. So far I've seen Pacer, Comtrack, and Transnobile mentioned. I'm a missing any others?? Ruckie, you've dropped a lot of helpful info man! The rates you posted really helps in giving me an idea of how much I can possible make weekly after expenses.

Go to craigslist theres a bunch of companies out there such as proud to haul, horizon,jb hunt, csx, roadone, ironbound express, big daddy and red trucking those are the ones i know from the top of my head,( theres one hauling tanks out of the port but i cant remember the name) but they want to pay really low. ex 400 from newark to tobyhanna and you have to go to the port....thats "proud to haul" i dont do ports only intermodal and some flatbed(bought a truck and flatbed trailer for cheap in february hauling building materials for a local company ) ...the northeast intermodal market is quickly becoming a overcrowned market so the rates are going to stay low for the long run but still more profitable than the dry van as a owner operator, bottomfeeders such as c r england ,werner and swift are coming into the intermodal market really aggresibly... if they require twic card you are going to the ports! I hope this helps

How much does your expenses average out every month excluding your truck payment? whats your home time?
I live in Atlanta and im considering JB Hunt intermodal as an owner operator they told me home time daily, off sat and sun. With the option to work on sat. Pays $50 drop and hook, 150 miles radius, 25/hr after 1 hour wait, $1 per mile with fuel surcharge included. Sounds pretty good im just lookin for feedback from people who has done it.

JB Hunt pays squat, $1.00 per miles you going to be kidding, HUB Group Trucking pays $1.30 per mile plus FSC 103% that right.. They are the biggest intermodal, in the US.

JB hunt losing O/O faster than they can hire them!
