its Q Carriers I really would be happy as long as I make more than $450 a week that is what I averaged with JB Hunt.

there is alot of o/o's out there that have bad credit. There is plenty of good compaines out there to work for. When I signed the lease for CR England, much like you I thought "well there is guys on their second lease, guys that are happy, and also guys wo can't make it.". After I signed my lease I found out that the guys who are on 2nd leases were older guys on older contracts. I pulled reefer and thought "best of both worlds" as long as I get the miles, but the day I signed my lease I had a hard time getting miles in. I really don't think it is worth it, there is alot of risk out there for $400-500 a week "profit". Heck you could make more than that as a company driver. If you really have 2 years driving expierence like your profile says you should be able to find a decent gig driving otr, unless your driving record says otherwises. Big rule here, never ever lease from a company that controls your freight because if something goes wrong you are stuck and can't go somewhere else.

I've been browsing the listings on trucker to trucker and the listings give a description of what is on the truck. It will list the trans and gears and it will say engine brake and then after engine brake it says "no check overdrive". What does "no check overdrive" mean?

Basically it is saying if it has a tall gear or just 1:1. You can get a tall gear in about all of the trannies and I think you can have it changed but I don't know what that would cost. As a rule of thumb, if the drives are in the 3:## range for a 48 state truck you will be fine w/out OD. If they are 4:## or higher then you would want it unless you are pulling real heavy stuff all of the times or you stay in the mountains...

Well man I tell ya what I found a home that is all there is to it Q Carriers is going to be the best company I ever been with period! So basically I don't feel like describing what the lease is all about I'm just too lazy lets just say it rocks if ya don't believe it call'em I would give the number but don't wanna get in trouble.

I am still curious to how many miles are on those 05 lease trucks... -

I don't want to discourage you from being a lease operator or O/O however I don't think that is such a good deal. Medicineman is correct there are plenty of compaines out there that make over $1k a week as company driver. I worked for TMC a while back and I made around $1k and I was home every weekend. Not only that but $450 a week truck payment is pretty steep right now espically when it isn't yours after 2 1/2 years. Heck for a few thousand more you could own a sweet truck that you listed and that is the same year etc, and have the abilty to be yours. I do wish you the best of luck, and if you do make it consider yourself lucky, most of those lease operators don't make it. I just hope you fully research this from all angles, that was my biggest mistake when I started out and got suckered into a lease. I was never a bad driver, always on time, never late, ran my tail off, etc. etc. and once I signed the lease the freight "seemed" to all of a sudden get REAL slow. Even if they tell you that you have priorty of company drivers loads, that is a lie. They pay they bills on their company trucks and I gurantee they are going to make sure their bills are paid for before your truck. Just my 2 cents, but I wish you the best of luck.
