What are you guys using for internet on the road? I have been out of the country for the last several years and have no idea who lets you tether etc..
Was thinking of getting a Samsung Note that I can use for a hotspot or something like that. I checked online and it looks like Verizon has the best deals and best coverage.
What do you use?

I guess I should mention, I want a smart phone, my iPad and a laptop.

yup you're on the right track, anything that has the hotspot feature (which almost all smartphones do now days) will work. I have an iphone and use the hotspot feature on it, I have all kinds of things hooked up to it, ipad, wireless printer, gps live traffic/weather, etc. The latest and greatest phone out is the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Note is ok too from what I've heard.

I have a big reel of cable on the back of my sleeper that unwinds as i drive down the road. It is hooked up to my cable box at home.

Now seriously. Use a smart phone to tether or MiFi device on either AT&T or Verizon. You will have nationwide coverage at the highest speeds available. If you watch a lot of movies or online game, get as big of a data package as you can afford. Expect to spend $200 or more a month if you watch a lot of movies or youtube.
Myself i use approx 10 GB a month, but i don't watch movies. Just average surfing. I have direct TV on the truck so i don't stream online other than an occasional youtube that someone sends me. I have an AT&T MiFi device and it is rare that i don't get a good connection. My brother has Verizon and he also gets good signals, but he only runs the east side of the country.GearWarrant Thanks this. -
Hmm, 10GB a month eh? That is more than I was thinking. I wish they still had the unlimited plans. I used to have Sprint, but it was a pain to get a good signal in a lot of places.

I use a company called millenicom. They piggy back off the verizon network and their rates a much cheaper then Verizon. Even the device I had to buy from them is branded as Verizon. I get 20 gigs a month for 90 bucks. 20 gigs from Verizon is 150 a month. I generally always have a signal and rarely go over my limit, I watch netflix most every night. I can hook up 10 devices to my jetpack, I have my roku player, ipad, laptop, and smart phone hooked up to it.

Sprint unlimited, is the only way to go if you use a lot of internet/downloading.
I touch 70 gb easily for the month, but the thing with Sprint is ya have to be on 4g.
Meaning, the bigger the city, the better the signal/faster downloads.paul_4lp Thanks this. -
sprint is starting to throttle data for heavy users though, Verizon has awesome coverage I've found, 4G LTE is everywhere lately.

Verizon Mifi Jetpack. up to 10 devices and has coverage just about everywhere.

They don't offer phone service though correct? Just data?
