I live about 3-3.5 hours from Memphis. I live real close to 67 hwy, it may not be considered a freightlane but it should be, there are tons of trucks from all different companies that travel 67.

I saw a BTC truck in Rockledge,FL last Wednesday. Any idea where it what it was doing there? I have never seen a BTC truck in Central Florida before let alone on the east coast.

builders does run florida...only when it has a helluva rate on it...they do run the east coast, but not much past jersey.the stuff going to nyc is mostly from the memphis area and its not force dispatch...but it does pay xtra to run the boroughs...when i worked there i stayed on the east coast because that had the best freight rates and i worked percentage(30%) there are only a handful of old hands that are still on percentage.they only offer mileage now(its more money for the company)

Thanks for info. I believe it was a load of lumber as I noted before. I do know which plant it was going too. One thing that surprises me was that BTC usually runs up in the freight lanes outside of FL. I should have got a pic.

They do occasionally run into FL, and you will deadhead back out because in many cases it is cheaper to just drive you out then to bother finding freight and hauling it somewhere for pennies. I hope to get a few of those loads. I have folks in Jacksonville and Orlando.

Freight has picked up. But overall, the economy information isn't doing well. That's a whole other topic that could split into several threads.

    I have pm-ed you the truck #.

Update: Okay. My truck is in the shop. I finally got through Memphis on Friday and decided to stop in to list all that was wrong with the truck. Turns out there was a lot more that what I had written up. Put it this way: They have to send it to Detroit to get an engine overhaul. So I'm looking at Wed the earliest to get my truck. Unlikely that I will just get a new truck, because they don't have any. So we'll see what happens. I'll try not to spend the breakdown pay all in one place. Unfortunately, I will probably miss my weekly bonus, though.

Also, when getting an inverter, don't try to get one bigger than 1500 watt continuous. I got a 2400 watt continuous and they didn't want to install it. Part of it was because the cables were a guage 1 and the inverter itself was huge. It could fit in the truck, but they were worried about the life of the battery. The 10 ft cable of guage 1 is $30-40 PER cable ( you need 2, one - and one +). I found out this after the fact. So I returned the cable (at least one of them. I got them at 2 different truck shops)

I got guage 4 jumper cables (set) for $35. These will be for the 1500 watt inverter.

You shouldn't need more that 1500 watt continuous anyway when you think about it.

ybfjax, I have enjoyed reading your posts. I have applied to BTC as they are the only company that told me they would hire me before my contract with CRST is up. I really want to get into the flatbed industry and I am patiently waiting for their call back. From what you have posted on here, they seem like a helluva company to work for compared to the rest.
