The thing is the monkeys in Washington dont understand 12-14-16...... 12 hours driving in a 14 hour work day with 16 hours to do it in. With the option for 2 hour split sleeper/off duty. How this would allow a driver to take a total of 4 hours off to nap, play golf, go fishing, take a history tour, do some rock climbing, hiking, go to a gym, play some hoops, watch a live game, whatever without affecting their driving hours.

If you like the current regs you need your head examined, look up mental health professionals in the yellow pages for help near you.

It seems some, like their hand held and are under the delusion that the Gov will protect them..... No amount of regulation can protect a human from another human, other than solitary confinement, and even than, it's questionable. There is nothing in ELD regulation that will protect the motoring public or, stop a driver from making wrong decisions, that could be deemed unsafe. NOTHING!

Electronic Logs: devices or apps that do nothing but logs HOS, and may or may not have GPS Example; BigRoad App. Rand McNally GPS and other GPS's

ELD's or EOBR's: are devices that connect to the trucks ECM and do have GPS or other technology to record current location and tell the device if truck is moving, among a whole host of other parameters.

While it is easier to "alter" paper logs, eLogs are the way of the future. The FMCSA will announce new regulations requiring eLogs by the end of the year and those new regs will go in to full effect two years after the announcement. So, like them or not, we are all going to have to use them.

Then run out and buy a none electronic truck now before the values go way up, because they will be grandfathered as non electronic there is no computer to hook elogs into. You can buy a truck totally restore it for less then you can buy a new truck anyway.

You must live in Lousyanna, then, where am thing with four or more wheels are allowed on the road. Here in Texas, we may get some things wrong, but we get safe vehicles right.

And if you (drink every) DRIVE by the letter of the law, you have nothing to worry about.

It's only the cheaters that complain the most.
