They do, but I was told you have to be able to show at least 6 months prior experience within the past 5 years. They'll work with you and help you verify what's needed.

I am currently down to PTL and Swift as the only two organizations that will hire me. I have been leaning towards PTL. I graduate this Tuesday from CDL School and I plan on contacting my recruiter. I would just like to get opinions on which company would best fit for me. I don't mind driving automatic or manual, but I prefer manual if any. I am 23. My goal is to work for 3 years and save up at least $50,000 so I can pursue a dream of mine. I would rather live out of the tractor then motels and travel through many states, and possibly work a lot to have enough days of vacation to where I could relax for 3 or 4 days by the beach somewhere in CA or maybe some other interesting place. I was wondering what you think would be the best decision. I am looking for top pay and I don't care about crummy motels or crying to my mom about what tone of voice they had when they said something I don't agree with. I was hoping I could get a technical breakdown from you all about what the pay, motives, and incentives are really like working for PTL and if you think it would be possible to save that kind of money, or even more money, working for PTL for 3 years. Please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it!

I still work for ptl and I get what I want. if I don't want to run I only get a few miles . but if I do want to run and run hard I get more miles than I can finish befor the week. we have a top 5 thing call driver support and ask them for help they will tell you how we are doing 95000 a month. and they will call you every month to talk about how to get you more miles. since I have been working with ds I am very happy. but I have to be willing to run hard. if I am away from home then what else is there to do. run hard. I get home time when I want but I choose every 26 day to take 4days off . some take less and some don't go home. I do. I am very happy here and if you get with driver support and do what they tell you to do to get more miles you will be happy here too. but I am only one driver who loves it here. however there is bad times where I am unhappy but I would get that anywhere I go as would any driver. anyhow be safe out there and good luck to you.

I have been approved for hire by PTL. Recruiting has not been very helpful. I have questions and my recruiter does not know the answers. I asked if they pay delay pay or downtime pay and I was told "it depends". On what, I asked and I was told "I don't know". Also, I have heard that PTL will charge you $2000 if you don't drive 100,000 miles for them and quit. Is that true? Is it true that they force per diem on you as well? I'm not signing with them until I get answers in writing, but I am hoping to get the truth from other drivers. -

The lease purchase program is not bad but is very expensive so youd probably make more money as a company driver for them. If you have money put back youd probably do ok with their lease purchase program. I like the way they have it set up, at least you know how you are doing as an owner operator.
In my summary, Id suggest you think of all of the issues that are important to you before you go to orientation, then work them out with the company during orientation. If you do that, I see no reason why you would not like them as an employer. -
Actually, my husband is the ONLY inspector there that does what he's supposed to do!! Anytime a driver has a problem they come to him because they know he knows what he's doing! I'm not exactly sure what it is that you're complaining about or what your point is supposed to be but I haven't worked for PTL since 2012 and I don't miss it! The last straw for me was when they gave me a load that was already 2 days late when they assigned it to me (I picked it up at the north lot) and then when I got to the consignee they refused to take it until Monday, it was THURSDAY!! I sat on that load for 3 days and never got 1 dime of layover pay!!! I now drive for a company that treats me like a PERSON and NOT A NUMBER!

FYI, I am sitting here at my truck driving school completing final documentation and watching office personnel hang up posters for trucking companies now contacting them. They commented on the number of recruiters calling who are now willing to hire new CDL grads because they're in such dire need of drivers. PTL is one of them.

I filled out an application with them, but that's about as far as I went. This is helpful information, I have received from this site. Thanks!
