Taxes Taxes Taxes they can never get enough and they always want more. 25% is my minimum but truthfully between the farm and trucking we usually pay about 15% when it's all said and done. I agree with moosc that a great tax accountant who KNOWS trucking and doesn't just do truckers taxes is worth their weight in glad hand grommets in Laredo.

Hello, I'm a current sni company driver looking to come over to choice, I was wondering usually how long does the transition take, and is ic orientation in charlotte or free bay only, even if I bring my own truck?

The days of having some H&R blockhead do your taxes are over. Can say that for both owner operators AND company drivers. A lot of stuff deductible for owner ops is also deductible for company drivers as unreimbursed expenses.
Save receipts for EVERYTHING, even the small $ receipts from ATM machines, a $2 hammer from harbor freight, a $1.25 unreimbursed toll from a tollway, a 49 cent chrome lug nut cover, AA batteries for the wireless mouse you use for the laptop you use for work. Get the records from comdata, EFS or whatever fuel cards you used throughout the year so you have a record of all the nickel and dime transaction fees they do. Bought a TV, DVD player, microwave, coffee maker and playstation 4 for the truck, write it off. All that little stuff adds up to thousands $$$ a year in tax write offs. I'll write off a single penny, if I have a receipt for 1 cent.
Planning on taking vacation to go to a truck show, especially the big ones with lots of vendors peddling their latest and greatest... Hotel, travel, food... Yep, going to a trade show or convention in your line of work or business is tax deductible. Need to rent a small tractor to rearrange some landscaping so you have a place to park your new truck, write it off. Need to rent a Uhaul pickup truck to get some tires you bought for the truck, write it off. Hey, now that you bought those tires, you'll need a new/bigger air compressor, 240v wiring and more tools too to mount them. Have a spare room at the house, use it for a home office, it's another nice write off, you take your truck driving neighbor to lunch because he's interested in driving for your company and you pick up the tab, write it off, it's a business meeting.... etc, etc.
