Hopefully this disgraceful driver will do the right thing and turn himself in so the state doesn't have to take on the expense of tracking his sorry butt down.

Trash like Kevin Roper deserve what they get, there is no excuse for rear-ending another vehicle (aside from that vehicle cutting you off and slamming on the brakes, which is a completely irrelevant point since that is not what happened here).

This accident could have easily been prevented had the driver been paying attention. There is no excuse for nailing slowed/stopped traffic.

Even if the driver was fatigued, it would not excuse his actions. We are all ultimately responsible for our own actions, not our dispatchers/dm's. When we're tired, we are responsible for getting the rest we need in order to operate in a safe manner. Failing to stand up for that is a fatal flaw that can result in disaster.

Wasn't just a couple days ago that trucks aren't being driven at night? Maybe he thought the moon 🌚 was the ☀. There's a truck accident every hour but no one reports them. Only reason this one made national news is a celebrity is injured.

That's the sorriest excuse I've ever heard. YOU are the captain of your ship, not the e log. I've been on them 3 years now. They do not dictate anything. If I'm tired, I don't drive. Common sense has to come into play at some point. If a "driver" can't use common sense and places blame on a computer, then he's a sorry driver and doesn't belong out here.

    This just in...

CBS lead story for national... The driver was indeed a Walmart driver and Walmart has apologized and will assume any/all responsibility. The driver is being charged with vehicular homicide. WOW

Not an excuse. I worked for a company that called when the hours came available to get you on the road.

    Notice, I worked for them.

You do not work for the companies that are doing this. This is the reason that the EOBR was in court.

    Do note one thing.

I stated that it could be interesting.

I am not blaming the EOBR, just an inquiry.

Like perhaps that there was a mechanical failure of the truck which would definitely mitigate the circumstances? It's possible, but improbable especially considering how WM takes pride in maintaining their trucks, but I still think a little restraint is in order anyway. I'm sure the driver is sorry to say the least, he took a life and his life is over... maybe the guy had an unexpected medical issue... who knows, but unless the guy was distracted I'm going to refrain from condemning a brother before all the facts are in.

Really? None? Not even if the steer tire blows, even when maintaining proper speed and distance? Just sayin! It sure looks like THAT didn't happen here since it wasn't reported. But that 1 in a million chance COULD happen... and that's the point. Let's wait and see what they find.

There is a chance there were mitigating circumstances, but don't even try. This lot never misses a chance to dogpile, irrespective of facts or conditions...
