What happened here is tragic no doubt about that. But it also means a huge mark against the trucking industry and also means Anne Ferro will be all over this.

One of the great things about this forum is we can agree to disagree if done tastefully.I do think Walmart caused the accident but none of us know what exactly lead to it.Was it just that,an accident or was it done intentionally.Alot of speculation plastered all over the internet.Only Walmart knows the real story. He could have been having a bad day which no one should be behind the wheel then. When ever a trk and 4wheeler are involved in accidents, authorities are quick to blame the trk driver which is real bad for the industry.Makes even more ppl hate us.Makes all the trucker hater groups pressure FMCSA into more stricter laws.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he saw the limo bus and said to himself, "Move or get hit!"

My best guess as to what happened is that he dozed off, woke up at the last second and tried to avoid the bus, and foolishly admitted as much to the responding trooper when asked what happened. -- but of course, a guess is all it is.

Not good to say the least if that indeed is what happened. What im thinking about is FMCSA is going to be all over this big time.

That seems a common misperception, somehow. Achieving and maintaining as safe a following distance as possible is only as difficult as finding the stones to operate at a lower velocity than all others in proximity.

That "technique" provides greater headspace, and traffic that passes and moves immediately back to the front will find plenty of room to maintain (or increase) their greater velocity and continue pulling away.

Often if not usually this requires no more stones than it takes to merely comply with the speed limit.

Drivers can and should augment this practice by observing traffic entering the tops of entrance ramps and preparing to further reduce velocity for 30 vehicles with 1 vehicle-length between them trying to enter traffic at 10 mph below the speed limit and 20-30 mph below the flow speed.

There is a powerful human tendency to not want to be different, to "fit in" with what everyone else is doing, even if it's both unsafe and illegal. Steering wheel holders submit, professional drivers know better.

Apparently, someone thinks the new motto isn't also suggestive of incompetence or aggressiveness. "Driving" on public roads isn't a competitive event.

We'll never know in what context "move or get hit" was written. He could have been joking, he could have been frustrated one day and wrote that. Guess it's a good lesson on what to write and not write on social media because now the media had portrayed this driver as a monster.

    Thanks pattyj for that post....

Walmart driver's Achilles heal. There is a difference between aggressiveness and assertiveness. The last thing the trucking profession needs is another aggressive driver telling people to move it or lose it.

Even though I drive trk,I don't automatically think trk drivers are in the right no matter what.In fact most the time im on the 4wheelers side when it comes to accidents.Like this case. Many accidents are so preventable.Following too closely is an error of the trk driver and no excuse for it.I heard this story on Fox News this morning.Too many trk drivers don't have their full attention on our roads.I don't care if at the last minute Walmart tried to avoid the accident.Things like this should never ever happen.I see it all the time semis following too closely. It only takes a split second for something of this magnitude to happen. Now a life was cut short and someone is listed in critical condition.
